I currently have a absurdly well optioned 458 Italia and a S550 for daily driving but that leaves me without a convertible.

I have 2 kids under 10 so need a backseat of sorts. I tried the Cali, twice but don't feel the car works. There is zero legroom for the smallest of kids.

    What to get?

I need something reasonably fast, can handle 2 little kids and can be driven.

    Ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks.

Maser is the only one in that group that can actually carry four I think. Plus it is a roadster, so top down fun! Plus it has a great sound track...

    not a convertible

Maser Gran Turismo, Bentley or Mercedes E conv.... not a lot of options for convertibles that will comfortably seat 4.

All of them have four seats, though I think the 911's probably have the least amount of room. If the OP goes the Maserati route, the GranTurismo MC Convertible brings out the best looks, speed, handling, and definitely sound of its lineup.

I wouldn't discount a Mustang. Back seats are fairly decent and their cheap to purchase and maintain. You can drive the hell out of it and won't care TOO much if the kids junk it a bit.

Why are you looking so far from home?

Mondial Cabriolet, seats 4 and can be driven. 3.2 or t for power requirements. t has adjustable suspension and power steering. When maintained and debugged, pretty reliable.

And no depreciation to worry about!

    Jerry

A better suggestion than any 911, regarding rear seat legroom, but still way too small. The OP only said that they have two kids under the age of 10yrs old which leaves huge room for interpretation, the kids could be 9.5yrs old. The kids are about to hit that "growth spurt" age and most likely will not be able to fit comfortably, or safely, into a 2+2.

    Just my opinion.

OK. Not many 4 seat convertibles that will fit real human beings in the back seat.

In the real world, a 93-95 MB 320E Cab is very good (suggested above). It has pretty decent legroom, and medium shoulder room (should not be a kid issue). Built like a tank and tremendously comfortable ride. Takes bumps like it has an air suspension w124 chassis top notch. Fun to drive? Well, pleasant, but if fun means sporty, not really. Auto (4 speed) only.

You can spring for some more coin and go for the GTC Convertible. Good size back seat, plenty of power. Fun to drive? Yes. Sporty? Not so much. Auto only.

If you want sporty, seems you have to compromise on the size of the car and that usually means less rear seat legroom. I can't think of any other 4 seat convertible with a stick and bigger back seat. Am I missing something? Newer BMW 3 series maybe has a bigger back seat? Reasonably sporty.

    Turbo Beetle (gak!)? :)

    Regards,
    Jerry

    Why not a Bentley GT?

Great car, comfortable, spacious, reliable and gorgeous.

Depends on how long you want to have it. Your kids are likely going to grow a lot in the coming years. A Bentley GT has decent rear legroom for anyone under 5'8" so that's not a bad choice. A phantom drop top coupe is ridiculously expensive but that would have the most leg room. Not a TON of desirable convertibles with sunstantial rear seat leg room unfortunately.

i fit strippers in the back of the California all the time :)

if you need real back seats then the M6 or the Bentley would be the choices id be looking at.
