    After a hiatus from performance cars, i.e., a big Lexus, I just brought a 2005 C55 - 60 in 4.7; 362 hp, 376 torque; coilovers; can't beat a V8.

I brought it at 60k miles for $14K. Typical for me, I have just poured another $6k into it (note: anybody who buys a car from me gets a hellva deal). But it is still a lot cheaper than a new CLA 45 (and faster). I thought about a C63, but this is a daily driver, and I want to keep my licence.

I also thought about an E 500; but the C55 is a newer and better car, it doesn't get much love because MB only made it for 2 years.

    Does anybody else have one?

BTW, this is my second. Once upon a time, I brought a 2006 C55 brand new.

    I'd post a pic; but as a lowly squab, I can't.

Glad to hear from you..your name came up in vain recently, but no harm done.
    That's a DB/Chrysler era unit,innit? I'll vouch for extra investment risk..still nice,but can cost ya in "market" depreciation...yeah,they can break too..but when they're good,zoomers.
    Dassant be a stranger,ok? Cheers,RE

Yeah, I get that about the DB/Chrysler era; but I have had good luck with AMGs: E55, C55, SL55, and C55 again.

Brand new, the car was $64k. So I figure even with $20k into it, I have a newly-new 1--year old car. :)

Well'll see. But 350 hp is my minimum for a daily driver, except for maybe a new Miata, which even though it is a chick car, is one hellva chick car.

I'll drop you an email tomorrow.

PS Back in the day, my 2006 C55 had NO problem keeping up with 360s and 430s during local, ah, exercise runs. :)

I used to have a 2006 C55. Sold it to a friend and now daily a 2013 C63. Although the purchase price is significantly different, I use the navigation and adaptive cruise in the new car just about everyday.

I'll get rides in the old car every once in a while and am reminded how much easier it is to input navigation addresses in the new car.

The C55 is certainly a fun little car though. I keep wondering if I would have hung on to it if I had slapped a supercharger on the thing...

My problem with the C63 is it a little bit too much over the top. I'm guessing rear tires might be good for 10k miles. Plus, there is the little problem of losing my license. :)

But for a DD, I'll take my little sleeper car. Every now and then a real car guy will ask me, "What the hell is that?"
