I have had it almost a year and have about 1500 miles on it. It is great fun to drive, attracts as much attention as my Ferrari, and in general like it VERY MUCH. I had enjoyed learning the Hybrid aspects for the first time. It has impressive performance at about 4 second 0-60.

There seems to be some negative impressions of the "Beetle winged Doors". I think they add an exotic visual to the car and do not extend out enough to be a problem. I am 73 and have no problems getting in and out. You back up to the entrance, put your right leg in and sit down. You get out with your left leg out and roll out on your elbow. Nothing to it. If you look like a 300 lb football, you will not like it.

You need to drive it more. 1500 miles in a year is far less then my daily commute to work.

LOL. Woody has a fleet of amazing cars. I'm sure 1500 miles is more than he drives just about any single vehicle in his garage.

There are a couple i8s here I see often. They look great and surprisingly sound real good too. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours!

    Interesting...

They have "false engine noise" to make it sound more macho, but that may be just in the interior.
They probably don't have exterior speakers.

I3 turbo... turbocharger is a muffler by itself.

not macho, that's just cheezy. I'm not sure of some of BMW's products the past decade or so... the i8/electric cars in general aren't my cup of tea but the i8 is an interesting car and looks amazing- like the Fisker, if only they shoved a gasoline V8 in there :)

That sort of defeats the purpose. The reason the i8 is so cool is because it delivers high end sports car performance in a totally different way. I'm going to pick one up beginning of April.

    so annoying.
i drove 1 hour round trip today to bmw for the promised 'weekend i8 test drive' after making arrangements over phone 3 times.
they leave me waiting 1/2 hour, salesman then shows me i8 in showroom for another 1/2 hour, then the ultimate -
they tell me the ny dealers do not participate in that program! how about telling me that from the get go? so they actually think that by inconveniencing me for 2 hours, im now more likely to buy a car from them?
thats why car dealers are thought of so highly

Sort of...electrics at the front and gas in the rear. No transfer case, though.
