Im kind of excited to try something new with my next car. The problem is, I always have to deal with incurred depreciation in the back of my mind, robbing me of some of the fun. (heck i've only put 1000 miles on my 355 this year). blue collar problems here lol.

Anyway, since selling my '10 Lingenfelter CTS-V, iv been wanting to get a fun sedan again, to bring the kids with me. I do all my own maintenance and will be putting a lot of miles on it, keeping it for a while.

My Budget it about $20, give or take. Here are some of my options in order of preference, open to others. Might even consider my first salvage car. All links are ebay and aren't necessarily the cars I am considering.

I'd avoid option #1, especially with the duoselect.

Option 2 seems like the biggest bang for the buck, and option three would be the least maintenance dependent of the bunch.

Lol, only because I'm not looking for a premium, low mile, mint toy to flip. Instead a high mile, lower cost to hold car seats and do donuts.
My true beater is a Saab 9-3 with 130k miles

What's the negatives for the quattroporte? I've just started researching them, I would guess reliability?
    Thanks!

No negatives with the QP in general, I just wouldn't personally own a duoselect. Clutches are expensive and frequent, and gear changes leave a lot to be desired.

the QP FROM 2010 are great cars - one issue you will have with the bigger wheels is they bend easily.

I had an e55 I used as a winter car for a couple years - was an animal with nokian hakkas

    The M5 is a beast.
A gas sucking high maintenance beast but what a car !
If you do routine stuff yourself and get a good warranty that would be the choice.
Last on the big bore naturally aspirated monsters.

#8 looks like a good deal. I have practically the same car, including color, limited slip diff, and 19 inch Euro multi spoke wheels. I am not sure the miles that that C63 has car has, but I will be selling mine pretty soon with 53k miles for about $30-35k, so $21k looks like a good deal...

I just picked it as an example, but I think it was 160k. About double what I was hoping to find on the max. I really like the c63, but I put it at number 8 since its unlikely to find a decent one at that price unites its a salvage .

    But they sound really good

That MY of Jag is just a reskinned 2008 S-Type R but a lot uglier. There are much latter models that have a lot of improvements. The actual R version has around 500 HP and goes like hell. I hope they have gotten much better at mileage because my S-Type R gets 11-13 around town and 21 on the highway if you're very careful. The oil, cooling and transmission hoses on these cars are a nightmare when begin to leak @ 45K. The engine compartments are so crowded that they use a lot of pretzel like aluminum pipes with way too short rubber pieces on each end so the connections get stressed and fail far to early IMHO. Lots of crappy plastic in the cooling system as well. But I hear similar complaints about BMWs & Audis so ... it's the way they do stuff today.

Why not the E46 M3? Do you need 4 doors?

I'd also add - don't laugh - the 2004-2009 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. Can be had in wagon or sedan variants WITH a 5-speed, an absolute rocket. Truly a wolf in sheep's clothing.

The Quattporte has low hp, handles poorly and has an annoying buzzing on the passenger side of the car.

Other than that it is a great car.

My two beater cars are a 2009 BMW M3 and a 2014 Corvette base car. Both of these cars are great drivers and reliable fun. I only paid $29K for my M3 and worth every penny of it.

By beaters I do not mean it in a derogative way. These are the cars I drive when I cannot control the parking environment I may be in.

I save my other cars for safe places where I can see the car or I just know it is safe for cars.

I love the older E34 and E28 M5s. No computer nannies, just you and the car. Or perhaps an E500/500e.

V10 M5 all the way. I have one with 140k on the clock and it runs like a swiss watch. Fuel consumption isn't great. My biggest gripe is the 17 gallon fuel tank.
