Out of all that I've driven I'd have to say Porsche Boxster with manual transmission. Not the fastest, but all around a great car.

I've had a few of them along with a bunch of other Porsches and other sports cars. I currently have a '14 Boxster S. When I get out of my 355 and into the Boxster it is very obvious that the Boxster is better by every objective measurement. Subjective measurements maybe not so much... The Ferrari has it hands down on looks and sound. I find the Boxster better than my previous 911s and R8 also.

 

Whatever you have in your garage.

I've actually got flack for owning 928's by people. No its not really a sports car more of a grand touring machine. Its as well made as any Mercedes. The reason I always go back to them. Its as good as an SL Mercedes or similar. But its not as soft as the Mercedes. Has just enough sports car to be fun. I did consider other cars, but even things like a new Corvette in 08 when I looked, it just wasn't as well built. Cheap interior on the Vette, even a 20 year old 928 was more solid.

But now I want more sports car and fun. I'm not a big fan of new 911's. Not that they are not great cars. Its just not the 911 I first fell in love with when 8 or 9 years old back in the late 1970's. I love 70's 911's, all of them. But I like amenities like good AC, etc. I do like the 80's 911, but the SC is low on power and a little big looking. The Carrera's are nice, but not a big fan of the bumpers.

Id say for me the right amount of classic with modern conveniences is either an 1989 to 94 Carrera 2 or even a 4. Sure faster exist. But this is as close to the classic air 911's with modern amenities you can get in my opinion.

 

It is beautiful, performs well, has a 6 speed and is bullet proof.

Thanks. It was tough to replace the 928 until now. Even early 2000's Aston Martins, etc. didn't have the balance of luxury and performance. Now that I'm not commuting, I don't need total comfort with enough sports car to be fun. I'm thinking either NSX or 89/90 Carrera 2 for a semi DD car.

Silly fun for next to nothing (at one time). A blast at 35 mph. I wanted to say Elan but too rare and fragile.

 

My vote is the Audi R8 V10. I love BMW M3s had a bunch of them and the Porsche 911s.

Surprisingly the new C7 Corvette is a stunning drivers car as is the 2015 Z/28 Comaro.

I know I wil get hate mail but I think Ferrari has lost its touch. I loved my 360 and 430 cars. The 458 while a beautiful car is not as good as the other cars I mentioned for a great driver.

If someone would make a new car replica of the Cal, I'd buy every one I could get my hands on. But it would have to be the real deal. No nanny stuff. 6 point harness instead of lap belts.

Great fun, at least until you find yourself having to stop short. Then it suddenly becomes less fun.

 

I'll submit the modern equivalent, the Mazda MX-5 (Miata). Silly fun to rip around, you can thrash it without being (highly) illegal, huge fun to drive at normal speeds. Nearly the definitive sports car, if huge power is not a requirement and you want nimble, responsive, agile, fun.
