As we speak, yours truly is putting the finishing touches to a transaction that involves 1006 going to a UK enthusiast. Having remained in its Califonia hiding place for 25 years, this 1967 P400 which is the First Production P400 will be completely restored back to its original Giallo Verde glory.

"0706" is a genuine prototype with 'trapdoor roof', here shown at the Paris Salon in 1967. The Marriott Hotels family have her in the USA today, having looked after her from....1967!

THANKS for posting Andy! You can clearly see the 'trap-door' on the roof in the top image.

    Joe,
Did Halibrand make the Miura wheels? They are just about the best looking stock wheels on the planet from any era.

was the pink one the personal car of Dolly Parton while singin`lovely tunes???

Btw., was today in Modena with AUTO SPORT to supervise the resto of a Maserati race cars of the 50ies.
They had 3 Miuras there for restoration. Unfortunately both cars were in pure metal and I coudn`t see their VIN`s nor their original colors.! But will find out late in February when I have my next appointment there!

    Ciao!

Yeah, the packages of achived images are pretty dusty (cough, cough), but Im glad I have a reason to use them. Some are already slated for the book and are going to the publisher.

Dont be sorry.... I love "Blu Tahiti" and that car, chassis number 5096 is particularly sweet for me. I found it in a barn/garage circa 1999, sold it to a gentleman in Connecticut who restored it with Bobileff upon my reccomendation, and just yesterday, I sold it (again) on his behalf for what is clearly an unsurpassed sum for a Miura P400SV, any Miura, or in fact any Lamborghini bar none to date. A wonderful car, with a wonderful "rescue" story [see www.lamborghiniregistry.com], it will always have a soft spot in my heart. Itll likely be back at Concorso again next year.

In fact, if I were the type to repaint a car another color (Im no longer that type, just personal preference) Id had done my own "4884" in Blu Tahiti.

Even though I AGREE with you that 5096 was the star of the handful of Miuras at Concorso 2006, the judges didnt agree with us and awarded Best Miura to the aforementioned 4884. A small trophy adorns the wall of my study, in case I forget the occasion.

Yet again, the silver 4968, also restored by Bobileff was quite striking, indeed my wife's favorite. Something for everyone.

    Joe

PS - I think youll have to paint that LP400 your planning on repainting Orange, in Blu Tahiti instead!

    Alan,

This handsome black car, Miura SV 5110, is NOT the last production Miura - it is production number 761, and the last production Miura is 762.
It is also, NOT the last Miura completed. 4 more P400SVs were completed after 5110 (5092, 5108, 4826 & 4822).
The error comes from an off-hand comment made by someone at the works in early 1973, which was erroneously copied down for the famed Coltrin/Marchet Miura book (1982).
Naturally, subsequent owners of 5110 have propagated this mistake, perhaps unwilling to do anything to correct it.
However, insiders and enthusiasts of this ultimate variant of the Miura are now well aware of what is correct, and the car's true status is now the 'received wisdom'. The factory's own Miura Production Register (1974) clarifies all the above and will be reproduced in my book - if that EVER comes to print!

End of Miura class for today...

    Joe

So, Ferruccio kept one Miura SV for himself (5028) with its unique headlight surround 'eyelash' treatment. Just look how proud he is...
