That is a simple way to go. Make sure you save 4 hours of videotape for the Florida section. You will want to replay that portion of the trip when you get back!
The site of the Florida mountains at sunrise is one to remember...

Doesn't matter when you drive I81, there are always construction slowdows. Still infinitely better than I95...

Drive down from NJ at least 2 times a year (kids + Disney), can't speak of traffic from NE to NJ. However, other than part of Delaware and the DC / VA area, you're not going to hit much traffic on 95S. Yes, there's always a bit of construction, but still best bet as you can pretty much fly.

Where in Marco are you going? Was just down there last year - we got a kick out of the "Lubbers" - giant grasshoppers that taste like crap to birds and "spit" if you bother them.

We have a Condo on South Seas Tower. First main Condos off Collier Drive.

Been going there 15 years and to tell you the truth, i havn't seen those giant grasshoppers.

Wow - been there just this once and they were EVERYWHERE! Never saw anything like it, and my 2 little girls thought they were the coolest things. I have some awesome pics of a few - multi colored and huge.

Didn't realize they spat...found that out on Wiki.

Time. Drove 95 back and forth for three years before exploring other options. Best time on 95 was still 4.5 hours slower than this route's worst time regardless of what time I left. I guess it depends on what you are looking for - but the scenery is better on this route too (at least imho).

Time drag from NE is always NYC, Philly, and DC - adds huge time to drive. One time I did the drive and it took me 10 hours to get 45 miles south of DC.

Wooo hoooo. That would keep my stuck in Key West. That would be awful, and I would hate having to call the boss and tell her I won't be back when expected. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

    Hey guys,

Got to Marco around 2pm Monday.

I thought they said it would start in the afternoon?? I hit the road around 3am Saturday and it was already piling up. What a pain and sloooow ride. I lost about 4hrs driving 40mph on 495 and the Pike and Conn.

I went my old route (95S) I didn't want to gamble going west with the storm.

I'll post some pictures of me in my Speedos tomorrow for you guys. :)
