Ferrari would show colors in the literature they want to promote. The new yellow that was front and centre in Frankfurt is also pictured there for the new 458. The question of whether the color is real becomes academic when Ferrari will custom match almost any color requested; with the personal approval of LdM. CH
First and foremost Ferrari want to promote the car and if they (or their agency) thinks tinkering with an image rather than trying to match colour swatches to body panels yields a more interesting image, that's they way they'll go. Which is not to say for certain that's what's happened here, but it does look like the result of an art director's fancy.
i swear i saw that same pic and the car/background looked different...the red looked rosso corsa, and the trees were greener...now i can't find that pic...

I was in Maranello on my honeymoon a couple weeks ago and it was all 458. I must say, I was not a fan of it prior to seeing it in person but having seen it, having heard it, I must say that I am 100% a convert! That photo looks like it was taken from a vantage point at the Planet Hotel. Either that, or you rented a helicopter! Great shot! Fred
You are correct! Trip is going great, this is a wonderful little town and I am surprised how small the factory really is.
What a great looking Ferrari, but I suspect it will get a headlight redesign in a few years. They are over complicated looking and almost bug like, although it does help identify the car when its coming at you. The rest of the car is simple and wonderful. Well, it took me a couple of months to get used to the design on paper, then as more pictures came out I grew to like it more. Seeing the 458 up close on the streets of Maranello, it looks really great, but for some reason, in person, I like other colors than Rosso, and I love Rosso. In the factory, on the first floor, the 458 is built on the same line as the California and I saw some Rosso, some Nero and one Giallo. The Nero car in the flesh looks more intimidating for sure. It's pretty quiet under light RPM's around town and only under load does the exhaust open up. I have not really examined the dimensions on paper but it looks quite a bit lower and wider than the 430 in the rear. Overall, It's a sexy car and I think we are all going to enjoy it. However, I think the Spider is going to be the real buy for this car and especially if you want Rosso. There is a lot of sheet metal behind the door to the rear wheel and the C pillar and roof line, for this reason I think the Spider is going to be a special car and as such I'm going to wait until 2011 and order the Spider. Because there were so many 458's on the assembly line, finished, and being road tested, I asked if the 458 is being shipped to dealers yet. They said yes, they are being shipped. My contact did not know if any were on the way to New Jersey just yet but they said that they forecasted 60% of 458 sales to be in the US. I was on that assembly line for about 45 minutes, if you have any questions, please let me know. Chad
Does the factory use the customer's tires for the test drive before shipping? Or do they have extra wheels (with used tires) that are mounted for the test and then exchanged for the wheels that the customer ordered. Also regarding wheels did you notice how many were equipped with the standard wheel vs the optional wheel with 5 thin spokes? 50 - 50? Great place to spend some time! CH
They are your tires. Regarding the wheel options, I saw twice as many optional wheel cars on the assembly line. Here's another picture, elevated view of 458. Chad Image Unavailable, Please Login
You've got a great set of pics building up here, due to the fact that they're just that little bit different from most we've seen, whether it be a dirty 458 or an unusual angle. Keep posting!
Really? Sorry my bad. I dont have any pop-up clicking on it. Can you guys see the picture at all? I saw that picture in another forum and post the direct link for the other forum.
