Hope you don't mind thought I'd throw in some of mine from March...
Nice pics also. The black 599 at Fiorano is a mule? I see it has California headlights and extra long different exhaust tips. Do you know if it has been discussed over here in Fchat or any other forums?
Hi Rodolfo, No, not Rosso Fiorano, but not Vinaccia either. Despite what the passenger of the crashed French GTO said on the colour of that car in another thread, I still stick with Rubino. I've seen several Vinaccia Ferraris and that colour is definitely different. Ciao, Lars T.
Hi Lars, This time I used the search feature for a while but couldn't find anything on a French GTO crash. Could you please point me out to the mentioned thread? Thanks! As for the colour of the GTO here, I'm also sure it is not Vinaccia and was vaguely suggesting Rosso Fiorano but it will probably be another shade.
Some time ago kizdan shared some pictures of a Vinaccia 599. One image is shown below. Hard to confuse that color with Rubino! CH Image Unavailable, Please Login
Exactly - that´s Vinaccia. So definitely different from the GTO I spotted in Maranello and the crashed French GTO in the same colour. Thanks for posting. Ciao, Lars T.
Sometimes it's hard to tell by the shade itself, but when it's about being metallic or not, it's so obvious...
Despite the name, the color of both the crashed GTO and the spotted GTO in Monaco, the color looks nice on the GTO.
This we certainly can agree on Actually, I'm even wondering if the crashed GTO and the one I spotted in Maranello might be the same car, rebuilt after the crash by the factory. It's only speculation, but maybe? Ciao, Lars T.
!!! I was simply assuming that the Monaco pics were taken before the accident. Is it the other way round?
I was around Modena on the autostrada last week (Tues) and there were lots of F-cars heading in the opposite direction, most notably 2 mint rosso Daytonas. Was something going on on that day or is that normal Italian motorway traffic?!
Yes, the Monaco pics were before the crash, but what I meant was that maybe the car I spotted in Maranello last week MIGHT be the same one too, MAYBE just repaired by the factory. It's just a guess though...
It has many similarities, yet, the Monaco GTO featured Carbon sill covers if I'm correct, the factory spotted GTO does not have these covers.
Great spotting, great pictures. Enjoyed watching them. Gives us all this "kid in a candy store" feeling Thanks Lars. M
If we consider a factory repair possible, it is also possible that the car now doesn't feature carbon sides by owner request or by mistake or maybe even they are fitted later in the repairing process... I guess without a s/n it's all speculation
Speaking of serial numbers; can Ferrari as a manufacturer reissue the same serial number again for a if you will 'replacement copy' they build from scratch of a destroyed but special model that is still in production? Yes I know all Ferrari models are special but some are more special. CH
I guess it's a question if they are "internal" or "external" numbers. Not that such niceties always mattered in the early days
