Not a W8, but an M12 coupe will be up for auction in Las Vegas thru Barrett-Jackson 9/22-24.

Most of the cars were of mediocre quality the last caraa after Weigert left were total crap I hear

but this is still a mindnumbingly gorgeous design

    I want 1 so bad

I think only 1 was built & Gerry W owns it

Pretty far from the truth, but heresay is pretty strong for the Vectors. Some of the owners of W8's praise their qualities, from the founder of Paul Mitchel, to Ron Tonkin. The engineers who created the car came from Group C, and Lockheed.

William, Gerry W comes to C&C out here quite often, I am sure if you met him and made a reasonable offer he would probably sell it to you, assuming he owns it.

Saying that, before the Indonesian's took over and the whole W12 fiasco, the W8 was a helluva car IMHO.

I met Gerry way back before the Indonesian debacle

Saw him at Monterey a few years back driving the roadster. Dont know if he owns it but I would have kept it

Periodically he lists the AWX-3's for sale to drum up interest, and would not sell them for anything short of astoundingly stupid money. They are worth a lot; but not as much as Jerry wants: enough to build the WX8.

Does anyone know of a contact email for Gerry W.? Or, of any forums he may post?

Also, anyone know of any Vectors located within a 1-2 hour drive of Boston that are publicly shown?

    Thanks

Gerry W. shows up to C&C and Supercar Sunday often enough for it not to be news. Ask in the SoCal section and I am certain you will get some contact info.

Having seen the cars in person they are far worse than I could have ever imagined. Build quality makes a vintage Ferrari look like a Mercedes.

I think his E-Mail has something to do with Jet Bikes or something, if I can find anything, I will PM you with it.

I definitely am one of those people who shares that interest! If there is any car that makes me fall backward when I see it, the Vector W8 is one of them.

As far as the Avtech prototypes, I was really hoping to see them when I visited SoCal, but the Supercar Sunday event had some rain and scared some people away. I plan on visiting Cali again, and I really hope no one buys his Avtech's before I get to see them.

What was wrong with the build quality prior to Megatech's takeover?

    Aventador meets Enzo and VECTOR!

Last week I had a two hour ride in the new Aventador to meet the VECTOR W8.
Accidentally a red Enzo was already awaiting us, too:

You mean John Paul Dejoria, owner and cofounder of Paul Mitchell Co.?
No, he still has his 1993 VECTOR W8, chassis 013:

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUz6uD747vc[/ame]

    http://www.youtube.com/user/vectorfiles

    Note the different front end.

The 1990 and 1991 VECTOR W8 models had the sharp nose while the 1992 and 1993 models had a big front spoiler and different air vents (front and side).
Also the later models had a one step tail wing whereas the early cars had a two step wing which was more costly to manufacture.
Other visible differences include the seats and the mirrors and last but not least the sunroof which could only be removed on the early models.

My photos show the 1990 VECTOR W8, chassis 008 in Switzerland, still with its first owner.
Only three or four W8s are still with their first owners.
One car is still missing on my otherwise complete owners list: the red chassis 011 which was sold to the Emir of Qatar in 1993 or 1994 who then purportedly handed the car over to the Saudi Royal family as a gift to one of the King´s multiple sons.

It´s the car that VECTOR Aeromotive Company used for their brochures:

IMO the W8 out-Countached the Countach.

    brilliant design.

too bad it never gained traction (ahem ;))

I noticed that with the pictures you posted, something looked different about the front end. I've seen it that way before, but I really like the later models better with the front spoiler.

Also a fan of the original car. I still have the Car & Driver with it on the cover next to a Porsche "Pacer" (928).

I bought the yellow M12 at BJ, so I guess I'm a fan.

I'd love to buy a W8 at some point also.

    Congratulations.
It´s the 1996 Detroit show car, the world premiere for the M12.
