This is just how Lamborghini chooses to pander to these emerging Asian markets, China gets a couple, Singapore got one, HK gets one, Australasia got one.

Europeans and Americans will never see one on the road, and the sale of a couple dozen of these cars doesn't matter one bit.

We only know about them because we're rabid petrol-heads. The normals haven't got a clue, nor do they care.

Why? They'll stop making the special editions when people stop buying them.

From an enthousiast viewpoint, yes.

But Lamborghini (the company) nowadays has little to do with enthousiasts.
They have to make profit, i.e. sell cars !
ANYTHING that helps selling the 'old' Gallardo will be done.
Release of the new model is scheduled for 2013, can and will not be speeded up.

So expect some more variations to the theme and stop seeing them as 'new' Gallardo's.

Basically (with the Ad Personam program) one can get his Gallardo delivered 'as you like' and nobody would call my car a special edition (limited to 1 that is ) would they?

Rumours I picked up suggest that Gallardo will get a last facelift before it's retirement to make it look more like an Aventador instead of a Murci SV.

Basically a new front and rear bumper and lights treatment ??

And of course more possible limited edition variations
Like all we have had up to now, but then with the new bumpers ??

 

Actually, this Malaysian edition is priced alright for the locals. I just saw it two days ago & was offered an attractive price for it. 13 have been sold & there's three colors: white, orange & green. I might want to wait for the new model though.

The MLE is basically an Lp550 with SL bodykit, no wing, no glass back, no CCB & normal cabin with centre alcantara on seats & centre console. You can spec the rest back in for extra $.

There's also another HongKong limited edition on sale now

And of course the 20 Singapore LEs but a true SL in & out with 550 hardware. One owner did better laptimes in Sepang than a 458.
