Yes, the engine is #4007GT. The engine seems to have had an interesting life : according to Barchetta it was in 500 Mondial #0506MD for some time.
Thanks Andrew. Autosport and Bachelli did a great job with it, to be expected with all their 250LM restoration experience. Yes, I bought it at the RM auction. It's great fun on the road and satisfies childhood dreams of of Le Mans!
Thanks Jeff. A few more for you Streetrod : Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The good thing is there is no original short nose LHD left, ( with the exception of the Volpi Street LM) so no one should be confused..
To open your garage door and find that revealed in the dim lighting would have to set your heart rate up. Love to see as many pictures as you would care to share. Enjoy her in good health. regards ken
Totally agree, would never want to see it mis-represented. Of the three LHD originally built, #5891 and #5903 were modified to Drogo long nose early in their life, leaving only #5995 as the only LHD short nose survivor. It was that thought that drove us forward when bringing it up to period specification in order to gain FIA approval, it will stand unique as a tribute to #5995 in it's racing heyday : as shown below driven by Toppetti #140 in the 1965 Targa Florio as opposed to how it is now in street form as modified for Count Volpi. Thanks Ken, it does indeed have that effect. Then set it away on a long straight with that sound behind your ears and Mulsanne becomes very real! Like most politicians, left from the middle.....in combination with the accelerator, useless... I think...As it is in my 275. Ciao Oscar
Oscar, sorry but has to be more extreme...on the RHD it is at the extreme right coming out of the bulkhead covering the RHD front wheel. And much more useless than you think, as it is an umbrella type, not a lever like the GTB. And I pulled it so hard in TA , thanks to the proven PP love for uphill start in speciales , ,,,,that it stayed in my hand. Afterwards , no more hand brake, I carried a piece of wood!!
So this was my question , is it also on the left part of the bulkhead and an umbrella type, on the LHD? Could not see it on the picture?
Ours is a floor mounted lever to left of drivers seat, in order to have some effect compared to umbrella type. Interior pic of #5995 on page 22 of Marcel Massini's 250LM book shows an umbrella type on left bulkhead.
Wood as in asking the TC to put behind the real wheels? or you co-driver making a jump start?. A stone would have been more convenient as locally at hand and thus not negative influencing the curb weight..... Ciao Oscar Ps we should meet!!
I though all replicas were junk, and should be crushed?? Have you guys not read the replica threads on this site? Now all of a sudden there is a repo Ferrari using Ferrari parts to build a car that replicates a Ferrari, with all the Ferrari badgeing etc. how is this car any different the a fiero 308?..... Ohhh because it's priced at 1 million dollars... I see... What a bunch of Hippocrates you guys are...if its fake it's fake, if it's real its real..There is no inbetween... Crush the worthless piece of garbage, beat the owner with a rusty wrench, and boycott rm forever...
Just in case, did you take any picture of Ron Fry and his car? Does anyone knows what happens to his multiple trophies, and any other of his archives?
