Every car deserves to have this treatment, especially 250 GTE's. What an inspiration.
Sir, it can not get any better. How did you acquire your skills and craftsmanship? Unbelievable work. Stunning. You are an artist.
Hello! 2013 year end is approaching and I can safely say that the car looks 90% complete to finish without adjustments... Feels good! Lately I got Borrani wheels polished, phhhu... that was a sick work. One wheel was so bad, damaged from battery acid but now it looks just great Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Air filter body mesh goes to chrome plating. Need to make remedy for not to burn the mesh corners. The car was equipped with electrical windscreen washer pump and the canister was slightly larger than manual foot pedal plastic bag. The glass canister is from Trico (made in England) used also on Rolls-Royce and Jaguars. I had the lid missing, so I found a good example from internet. The Fram filter element is original and came with the car, a very-very nice element there. Gentlemen , I need your help with the decals. These are just samples printed on paper before I do final printing. 1) Does late series GTE have FIAT anodized decal top of the brake fluid canister? I have seen series I and II have the same are painted wrinkle black? 2) Does Series III have Servofreno decal on the brake booster also? I have seen picture a very original untouched car with black painted booster without decal. 3) What is the correct battery for GTE: Marelli, Baroclem or Fiamm?
1975 was the last year when she was on road. I hope Santa brings new correct tires for Christmas present Merry Christmas!! Martin Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The condition of this car is unbelievable for having sat for 38 years! Not well-loved recently, either, judging by the dusty exterior. Is there a story you can tell?
Martin, it's good that you've gone thru the trouble of making a guard for the air filter mesh. I presume this is to keep the buffer form "burning" it. Is this what you have made this guard for? If so, this mesh is not to be chrome plated, it's unpolished nickle. john
Thanks guys, thanks John! Nickle...I thought about it. You see it is strange because when we got the car the air cleaner body was fully chromed even the cover. And it was not fresh chrome it was old poor shape chrome. So this mess my minds but I believe you that correct finish must be unpolished nickle. I will tell it to my plater man. Yes, the guard is for the "burning" reasons. Thanks for the attention John! Best regards Martin
Martin, I have seen chromed air boxes in other instances and in fact mine was entirely chromed too when I got the car a number of years ago. The correct look is not shiny but "brushed" and it needs to have that yellowish glow of nickle. It is possible that when they chromed yours in the past, they wiped away the characteristic "brush" marks during buffing, so even if you nickle plate it today it will end up shinier than it needs to be. I'd suggest that before sending it off you put back those brush marks in the screen portion of the box with sand paper. john Image Unavailable, Please Login
1) wrinkle black 2) servofreno. Have never seen black booster. Should be clear cad. 3) Baroclem Also, booster bleeder screws are black oxide and the rocker trim strip should be satin black. Great work Martin.
Martin, I would think those larger size tyres would hit the inside rear wheel well. I recall getting my car with those sizes on and it was not good. I switched to the original size Pirelli 185 /15 cinturato. Steve
Do you feel that polishing is enough. As a matter of fact I sent mine to Borrani for restoration and they sis thematically change all the spokes,,not only some become lose and corroded with time, but I would not like to have one or more spoke collapsing under heavy cornering or braking? For the same reason I am running the Stratos on repro magnesium wheels as those alloys are well know for disintegrating without warning. Would feel the same with Campagnolo alloys on 275 SN cosmetic and even crack testing might not be enough with 50 years old alloy wheels.
John, It is strange that numerous cars have semi painted and other fully chromed filter body's. But when I think time back I remember there was some small black paint remnant over the filter cover edge and bottom side also. In such case the semi paint solution might been correct for my filter. Maybe the plating was done fully all the body's from basis before painting them as request. Steve, Thanks for the info! Did you had 5.5" wide Borrani wheels? I have 6.5" wheels (series III). Bira, actually the wheels are bought from new over 20 years ago but never touched the road. Even the Pirelli Cinturanto tires are as new but rubber is all cracked. Aluminium rim needed only polishing and I agree the spokes might need tensioning due its time. No corrosion damage is not visible, they are good. Regards Martin
Martin, My series II wheels are RW3690 15 x 6.00. I didn't realize that the series III had a different size wheel. regards, Steve
