My series III has also RW3690 15X6 and as i know and seen on other GTE III there is also 15X6. Julius
interesting also spare wheel in my Series III which is untouched and in serious patina has 15X6 42 RW3690 Julius
While these details for 1 & 2 are as represented in the GTE manual this later car may have had a Marelli battery and the brake fluid reservoir cap could go either way. It certainly makes sense that the factory would paint out the details on cars featured in the press or shows. My Series Two has an un painted version as have many other original cars I have seen.
Perhaps wider wheels were fitted somewhere along the way by a previous owner. I've never seen 3801s on a 250 GTE. I think even the 250 GTOs came with 3690s. Can someone clarify this?
Here is list by TomYang that might help Borrani Wheel information I am sure that my car was fitted with these size Borranis Julius
Just found this amazing thread! Real restoration craftmanship. Very nice and informative to see all those pictures. I really love this and am looking forward to the finished car. Thanks for posting all this!
This is the most comprehensive and detail-oriented restoration I've ever seen documented online. What a project and car! Wow! I'm glad to see, too, that this GTE is being honored and respected in this way--not butchered to make a GTO replica.
Fantastic work! Glad to see this effort put into the "unloved" Ferrari of so long. Much respect to your passion Sir. Ciao and best!
Perhaps,re your above statement, you should have a look at Darren's thread on his S1 330 that he bought with most of the parts missing? His is determination personified.
'Unloved'? I think moniker goes to the S1 330,don't you? Certainly the 250 body was 'valueless' in so far of it's underpinings were valuable re the number of recreations and replicas. I don't think it was unloved though, just a necessary means to and end for so many of them.
I'll meet you half-way. The GTE and 330 are both in that category as they are regularly sacrificed and destroyed to make replicars. That this man has restored his GTE to an immaculate state is something of an anomaly and act of love among a sea of unlove. please see: Chad Glass: Ferrari 250 GTE and 330 GT to be Hunted to Extinction
Hello, Last week we took the car finally to polishing and she shines for happiness. It feels great to see the car complete together. There is few issues as new correct tires to get, battery, steering wheel?, rear number plate frame (cracked). Well... waiting for spring and dry roads to hear hoofs clatter and a good profesional photo session. Will see how she runs Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I hope all you enjoyed this restoration journey. Thanks for all hints and help here. This was the first Ferrari restoration for us and I hope it is not the last one to do. Best Regards Martin (left) & Aleksander (right) Vintage Customizer Restorations, Estonia Image Unavailable, Please Login
Simon, there is quite empty gasoline tank and without spare wheel and tool bag. tight also after rebuild, needs bumpy road.
Absolutely beautiful. Very well done on a fantastic restoration and for taking the time to create this thread. and if any of those old parts are up for grabs, please pm me!
Wonderful, but a couple of buts: 1. Camcovers should be all black ... Tom Yang will be not happy 2. I hope all those parts are not left over as somebody will make a replica out of them ... lol Well done! Pete
Beautiful car. I am glad that these cars are now worthy of restoration. Let us know your driving experiences once this gets out on the road. Thank you for the postings !! Ken Goldman
I am amazed, what more can I say than, erm, amazing. Well done, a beautiful car and an excellent nuts and bolts rebuild. It boggles the mind to even think about the tools you have needed to perform this rebuild, let alone the mamoth task of the rebuild itself. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Neil
