You will notice the Islero GT is an early one with the side skirt brushed alu, just a few models got that specification, as my ex #6009 had too (but were painted in their life) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Absolutely wonderful! Was it the one that was for sale in Monaco a few years ago with the wire wheels?
No it was GTS #6558 sold at Monaco this one is a Belgian car well known by me, belonged to my father's best friend - 1st owner, but yes this one had wire wheels too before swaping for the good ones !
Does someone hold the Motor magazine of December 1968 in which Islero was competed sv 911 ? is it possible to scan whole article and front cover ? thanks in advance Image Unavailable, Please Login
somebody contacted me about this Islero for sale in Barcelona => LAMBORGHINI ISLERO LeMans 1969 | Auto Storica it is VIN #6486, that I know since august 2007 when I saw it as a restoration project at Edmond Ciclets place (the top Lambo mechanic in France for last 48 years). Built sheet : Telaio #6486 Marazzi carrozzeria #162 Colore : Bleu / Senape Consegna : 18/06/1969 Cliente : Mr Lamy V.P.M. - Francia I didn't buy it at that time because it wasn't the "LE MANS Islero". I sold that GTS #6486 to Auto Storica in August 2014 when it was already half restored by Lecoq in France. For unknown reason, it is labelled as the "LE MANS Islero" which is FALSE... Paul Rilly's racing Islero was a GT and not a GTS as Bellu's book demonstrated but also because I spent 20 years to chase the real one untill I found it end of december 2008. The only one true "LE MANS Islero" is #6009, fully documented !!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This car is right next to mine... I'm #6489........ this color combo of Blue on blue is not so great..... All this time at resto shops and the car still isn't done. imagine that!
here is the only picture of Paul Rilly's racing Islero GT featured in Bellu's book back in 1987 when internet was not existing and nobody knew about others pictures, that I have collected all over Europe since ! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Olivier, were you able to get a copy of the Motor magazine of December 1968? Is so, could you send me a copy? I am very interested in this article. BTW - does there exist any platform to exchange article about the ISLERO? I have myself a couple of prints from the late 60s and early 70s.
I think it would be worth that Lou Herrin site ( Lamborghini-Islero.com ) gather this type of information. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe-obkQuOPw
It is indeed still owned by the same family, Friends of mine. Not sure but think it may be one of the only RHD cars still in existence!
It's amazing how deep is the damage that rust had already done on these cars in the 80's ... (see the lower area of the front & rear fenders - and what has fallen on the ground !..) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is #6668! in 2005 it was in exactly the same state for sale at Automobili Superleggera Sport Veloce Strandweg 25 NL-3891 AE Zeewolde
