Pictures floating around of Evans sick on the side of the track from co-star Sabine driving the new R8. Doesn't seem like this is going well.

I work for Top Gear, and was there when it happened.

They are "playing it right", if you know what I'm saying.

Exactly. It wasn't really a show about cars when the lads were there. It was a show about three blokes and some cars. Harris's and Schmitz's driving skills won't mean smack. Having a girl is going to make it awkward, too.

However, the Chris Evans vomit scene gives me some hope. But just a little.

I will give it a try. I know I am the only one, but I lost a lot of respect for Clarkson when he smacked around staff. He should have profusely apologized, begged forgiveness and salvaged the relationship with BBC. I suspect this was instead the final straw and I simply do not get how folks can idolize those with such poor behavior, but hey, the Kardashians and Bieber thrive.

I wish the new show well but I honestly didn't notice that the "old" one was gone. The early TG from the 1990s was much better and less annoying than the last few years on the BBC.

It ended as barely a show for real car enthusiasts with silly writing, biased reviews and over dramatization for the sake of non-car audiences.

The Power Lap and Hammond were good though.

Competition is more complicated now with Petrolicious, EVO Diaries and even some good Motor Trend and Car and Driver vids on Youtube.

Not the only one. Arguably the ego had outgrown the talent and it was time to go, regardless.

It was in a bit of rut. I watched all of the episodes, but IMHO it was feeling a bit like a silly stunt show after a point. OTOH, Chris Harris' drive in a C-Type in the Mille Miglia was an outstanding video and much more interesting to me, as I've never driven the MM and probably never will.

Even the Jay Leno videos are well done, technical and informative.

They (and some of the others on the pro Youtube channels) have everything a diehard car enthusiast would want without the silliness and fabricated drama of the outgoing TG productions.

TG will always have an audience in the masses, but for people like us, we may have to look elsewhere to feed the technical high.

He is also a former (but recently) Detomaso owner...definitely a car enthusiast and a good driver.

LeBlanc was a good move. I've liked that guy and his interview as a guest on Top Gear was one of the better ones imo (I usually skip them honestly). I actually may tune in just to see how it goes now. I'm still going to watch the Amazon Prime version of TG with Jeremy over it no question...

    Uhh...from the article, who's Morgan?

Maybe they meant Evans instead of the name Morgan? Eddie Jordan is a nice surprise. Like the Jordan-LeBlanc pairing way more than the Sabine-Harris one.

As much as I like the idea of Stig, I think he should go as it was so much a part of Jeremy's bit and it doesn't feel right leaving that character imo. I think they should just get a former F1 driver like Coulthard or someone to do quickest laps and then a quick impression on how it drives compared to other cars being tested to the limit. I would be really curious to see how a race-winning F1 driver would compare driving a LaF, 918, etc, around the track as fast as possible rather than Chris Harris who is really just an enthusiast to be honest.

I think they meant Jordan, not Morgan in that sentence.

That's the only thing that makes sense.

I really doubt the fans care much about what happens backstage.

Since the real top gear is in English---why did we need a U.S. Version?
