    Piper ran 0854 up to 305 km/h (189 mph) near Bloemfontein in 1968. At the time, it wore a green coupe body with extended nosework and race #5.

    No same livery as Brands Hatch but "9" font like Paris 1000.
    Maybe a concours in 67?? Coupe not the spyder version.

    Correct, it beat the record what at the time was held by a McLaren Elva.

    The 1968 event at Killarney in Cape Town, the car did indeed finish the race, it was a race long battle with Paul Hawkins in 0858 (then in Can Am form), Piper had a puncture 2 or three laps before the end. Pitted and re joined the race.

    did some reading in a few books etc

    Piper 'won' at Pietermaritzburg but organization declared Hawkins as the winner. He was relegated to 4th and then subsequently promoted to 3rd.
    and for the 3 Hours of Killarney he finished 3rd
