Had the grill stripped so we can fit the grill to the nose and adjust accordingly.

Ill make new slates for the grill so that the look is clean and crisp!

Grill is the last item we are doing on the body - yea!

Ill get pics early next week on the grill fit etc.

From here - we will flip the car over and scuff the underneath to get ready for paint.

    Stay tuned......

Other activities include - getting all the engineering drawings for the body side moldings done.

With this complete we can run sets of the molding as needed. Pics to come

Haven't noticed before Marchal turned the headlight assembly upside down later in production. Would consider securing the spring lock to avoid cosmetic damage in case it shakes loose. It does not need to open completely to allow the bullet to pop out putting the bezel and paintwork to risk.

I sent my sun visors and headliner to HVL in the Netherlands. Henk and I talked about the material, grain stitching and overall quality. I was convinced that he was the right guy with the right material to make both pieces.

I also order from him the correct trunk material - I believe all Ellena's had the same trunk material regardless of the interior colors. He sent some samples over for me to compare with my original trunk material and we have a match!!

Below are some pics of the before and after shots of the material etc.

More Pics of the just received pieces

    The grab handle is underway.....

Pics of the carpet and close up of the tweed material.

Lastly the trunk area receives a black wool felt material on the inside of the rear quarters, the wheel housings, back of the tail panel and the back side of the trunk.

I did not unroll the material but here is the roll....another great piece from HVL

    Ed,

Don´t forget to weld on the brackets/attachment for the handbrake mechanism on the chassis, I cannot see them right now.
The same as on PF coupe serie one.

    best

Ref the exhaust hangers on the early cars, like the Ellena -

I have seen the exhaust hangers on some Boano car and Ellena cars have the zinc plated ends on the straps painted black. I have also see some restored car just zinc plated.

What is the correct application for the mid to late 50's era cars related to these hangers?

    Appreciate the advise

For the first time since 1974 this original motor to the car has now been inserted into the car.

Having been in a crate for all these years, we installed the motor to set up the new exhaust that was made for the car and do the necessary modification now so that upon assembly after paint etc, there are no hassles in the installation.....

Here are some pics of the motor in and some of the setup of the exhaust system.

Ed, thanks for sharing. It's always a treat to see progress pictures of this rare car.
Have you researched how far the tail pipes should stand out?
