The most striking thing about the photos to think about is that the owners are real Tifosi driving their Prancing Dinosaurs in a steady downpour. The modern fashion accessory owners won't take their garage queens out if there is a single cloud in a 100 mile radius that might have a drop of rain in it.
Well the 288 GTO suffered a lot, showing those modern high power cars are less agile in bad weather than the earlier less powerful siblings.
Very sorry to see the pictures of the 288, but glad no one was hurt. I am also really impressed to see these fine cars being used, despite the rain. What a dream it must be to participate! Forza!!!
You had to be creative. Full album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1410506879010053.1073742031.173013032759450&type=1&l=64a33af834. Inviato dal mio Nexus 5X utilizzando Tapatalk
Hi, A lot more modest than many other celebrations but quite an achievement in our small scale. Two winning racers from the 1950's on the Ferrari Owners' Club Finland stand to to celebrate the 70th anniversary at the 10th annual Lahti Classic Motorshow last weekend. My photos, only iPhone quality, sorry I was very busy the whole weekend, over 18000 visitors. Edit: Sorry, the photos dropped out, a network security problem or something, I'll retry from the laptop.
So the photos: #0723GT winner of the GT class race in the Helsinki GP 1958 (and Kristianstad, Sweden) and the rest of: #0568M "The Ice Racer" (with one ice tyre on the carpet) won on tarmac the Sports car race S 2.0+ in the Helsinki GP in 1959 driven by owner, Finnish Ferrari reseller/importer Carl-Otto Bremer (FIN), beating Graham Whitehead (GB) in AM DBR1/5 and John Kvarnström (S) in #0584M. Very friendly to loan such a car for the celebration, it was great to see it again. A few drivers who had raced it or against it were present and had lots of stories to tell. Including the sister of the second owner, who also raced on tarmac, gravel and ice herself! She had practiced with the Monza and had been a bit disappointed when she had not been allowed to race on ice with her brother's car!
