Other than horrific build quality, i enjoyed my 91 Diablo for its basic simple manners,But i am pretty shore my 01 6,0 was quicker all around, seems to remember tested0.60 at 3,8 sec , both cars had stripped down exhaust,and 80 lbs muffler box removed, (still have the 01 box in my wearhouse) and yes,they are undervalued.

 

I don't feel they have bad build quality at all. You have to remember they are now 25 years old. Sure, everything is simple, but the materials are high end, and other that crap paint and ****ty electronics (Italians have no clue on either), everything is built like a brick.

 

I agree on the brick thing reg suspension ,basic frame, and to a point engine/tranny set up altough i have heard some storys reg this if driven hard,and slapped around. But door hinges,hardvare , drain in doors /trunk interior quality ,switches , rubber/weaterstripping bumper fit , and so on , is lightyears behind the 6.0 no comparo.

 

The Diablo looks fast even just looking at it in my garage. I love this car, to me the most beautiful car design, ever.

Could not agree more.
Everybody is searching these days for "pure" driving feeling. As it used to be before the computer became your Driver.
Strange enough boring 964 Turbo 3.6 Porsches or Ferrari 512Ms get mega money - they were no match for the Diablo in their days, neither they are now.

Build quality is an issue with all 90s cars now, time took ist toll. But engine & drivetrain are bullet proof and those who argue have most likely never driven one; especially an early Diablo.
Like it or not: an early RWD Diablo was and is the closest thing you could get to a Ferrari F40.

Dug out the Jul 2000 edition of Road&Track , 01 Diablo (orange) full test, they are blown away by its performance, 0-60 3,6 sec , 12 flat in the quarter, they also refered to the first (91) car wich they managed 0-60 in 4,5 anyway, its a magazine,but it does illustrate a fairly quicker 0-60 time in the latest car, wich is the same impression i had of my cars, the early car was noisier and more brutal,with a sense of loud power,But the later car just simply moved a lot quicker, i will say reg the first Diablos beeing the quickest.is a Myth.

 

For the most part I agree with this. While the 91 Diablo felt very raw and old school Lamborghini, the 6.0 I drove on a few occasions felt brutely fast at the time. There aren't too many cars that can keep up with a 6.0 even today.

That being said the cars in question are the "first 50". While I have never driven one of those I have no reason to doubt the numerous tests that were published on the vehicle. Most of them put the car around 4-4.2 seconds.

Magazines as we all know can sometimes have trouble launching these cars properly in their tests. So while not as fast as the 6.0 I still think the early Diablo was seriously quick for it's time and possibly faster than some other variants.

Depends how you define performance... Off the line the 6.0 can launch harder due to its awd, after that, the 6.0 has to deal with the weight its put on.. All those creature comforts like abs, power steering, adj suspension etc all add alot of weight. My 92 Diablo after U.S. exhaust swap weighed in at 35XX, while a 6.0 according to tests weighs in the 4000lb range.
Additionally on the dyno, a 91 with exhaust made 416 rwhp. vs my 98 Diablo SV made 412rwhp, and a 6.0 with front shaft disconnected made 432rwhp...

 

My 98 SV was very fast..it was a rocket

You are a brave man to park it like that...

 

It's actually the safest spot out in the open and not hidden downstairs, besides, the valet guys are very good to me, they keep a good eye on it. Just a few hand prints when I get it back which is to be expected with such foot traffic. I love Las Vegas

Well, that's your opinion, but Paris isn't on Freemont Street either. Keep in mind this is mostly day time or late afternoons. There are Enzos and Veyrons in that same spot every other day. We choose to enjoy our cars and we won't let drunk idiots stop us from having a good time. Happens all over the world. Monte Carlo too, I've been there and seen million dollar cars parked with that much foot traffic in front of the casino (check race tomorrow). Like I said, the valet guys take care of me, they know all my cars, plus that's what insurance is for. Life is too short to worry about stuff like that.

If you take "Care" of the Valets, you should be OK. I personally never park @ a Casino/Hotel, but I am very anal about my Bull. To each his own
