We had the rear wheels off mine yesterday to fit new brake pads. The width of the rear tyres never fails to make me smile ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
disappointing that 139 "downgraded" the steering wheel. The SE30 has the best steering wheel of the Diablo production run IMO.
Yes, it was originally silver, then painted in white with fixed headlights, and finally back in its original color. This car also has a M48 MoTec unit : [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRb73JX4c5M[/ame] Image Unavailable, Please Login

Is anyone aware of a Diablo SE30 with less than @ 120 (one hundred and twenty) miles extant today? Also, how many were really made in metallic black (Nero Metallizzato 224.521)? Remember that SE Black car. Out of the John Scotti house up in Canada. Not one of the 25 USA cars. It still had the original tires, which of course are way out of date code and IMPOSSIBLE to source new ones of the same OEM brand name and style. Lucky for the RWD only, as you can run different brands front and rear, which some do as the 18 and 17 inch tires are so hard to match up. Dont even want to think about the price tag to service it and get it to tip top performing shape after sitting for all those years. It is a great piece of machinery, was a shame to leave it sitting. I think the new owner is on the boards here in the USA now. I thought Joe, you brokered this to him>?? The color is FANTASTIC, same color as my #74 2000 Diablo GT. Such a rich vibrant color, especially when the sun hits it. Such a nice car and an appreciating asset at that.
Thanks for bringing these issues up & affording an opportunity to address some questions that would inevitably arise! ZA9DU27G0RLA12089 is a USA-specification build car (with closed fuel-filler cap, leather seats etc) but designated for delivery to Canada, with a valid Canadian or US VIN. Bear in mind, the SE30s supplied to Canada were actually manufactured to US specifications, except the speedometer was changed to display kilometers per hour - that is the only difference. FWIW and for purposes of clarification, the cars factory VIN plate in the drivers door-jamb shows RLA12089 conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety & bumpers Standards (FMVSS) so effectively its USA status is a non-issue, as is true of any of the SE30s supplied to Canada. Speaking of rarity, its worth noting that although 25 SE30s were designated to the USA, even fewer were designated for Canada! In the case of RLA12089, an official compliance letter from Lamborghini SpA was issued, clearing up any concerns - see below. BTW, none of the above changes the fact that this is a 1 of 2 (?) Nero Metallizzato SE30, and, the fact that it is practically a brand new delivery miles SE30. Anyone else got one just like this? I proudly brokered this car to the current owner, who you know. Personally, I think its okay to have some cars be preserved as low-mileage examples for future generations and its unrealistic to expect all cars to be driven the same and all have thousands & thousands of miles. That said, just because a car is low-miles does not mean one should assume it has been unserviced or neglected! As regards getting this or any other low-mileage Supercar fully serviced, surely, when you buy a V12 Lamborghini Supercar, you ought to factor in the real cost of maintaining one. Same is true of tires, not easy, but 150 SE30 owners are faced with the same issue and as we saw with the P7s for a Countach, where there is a will, there is a way. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The 5th VIN character clearly indicates a USA spec car (regardless of its initial destination). And all USA Diablos thru 1998 had kilometer recording speedos but as you show, not the main dial. So even that is not a big difference. -mick
Exactly. In fact, the list of 25 cars compiled by Lamborghini USA themselves (faxed to me on April the 29th 1997) contains RLA12027 which they note as supplied to "Unlimited Canada" confirming therefore that USA & Canada cars are essentially one-and-the same. This list also confirms that all 3 black SE30s delivered to the USA were non-metallic (NM), therefore 089 appears to be even more special. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm not sure how wide that statement holds true - just concerned this comment might end up out of context. Many early Diablos delivered to Canada had Europe/ROW indicating VINs. Later Diablos, like the 6.0, clearly indicated Canadian spec cars in their VINs. But none of that alters any Diablo with U for the 5th VIN char as being a USA spec car as is the case here. -mick
don't forget the seat belts, the USA cars had those "passive seatbelts" on the motorized rail.. Canada had regular belts...
Still can get tires, stock was 235/40 R17, but 245/40 R17 is basically same thing, even at 90MPH it is less than 1mph difference in measurement (of speed) https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?zip-code=&frontWidth=245/&frontRatio=40&frontDiameter=17&rearWidth=335/&rearRatio=30&rearDiameter=18
Yes understood, my comment is restricted to just these SE30s for purposes of the SE30 thread. Correct, I much prefer the cars without the motorized rail! Another thing I love about the Canada-delivered cars is they did not have the monstrous grab-handle in front of the passenger, which the USA cars did. As shown below, the smooth dash is more aesthetically pleasing. It looks like the handful of Canada SE30s were very cool cars indeed. Yes, I have been assured of same by several people.
