These modifications were done later in life, after this car left the factory.
There were Competitizione versions of the 275 with similar body mods, but the ones on this car are aspirational and not a part of its factory history.

The gills behind the rear wheels, outside fuel filler cap, sliding perspex door windows and wheels are not original on this steel bodied 275 GTB/4.

There were 10 Short Nose alloy bodied 275 GTBs (Competizione Clienti) and a 275 GTB Competizione Speciale (06885) that had gills behind the rear wheels but even these were a different shape to the ones that were added to this 275 GTB/4.

As the 275 GTB evolved through its production life there were quite a few developments incorporated such as lengthening the nose, different engine mountings/drive shafts, optional alloy body, 3 double choke Webers and optional 6, different wheels and the later 4 cam engine...... There were also 12 very special Long Nose alloy 275 GTB/C cars that were made by the Racing Department. I'm sure you will enjoy learning about them all and their variations.

Thank you for this valuable information. Though I am an owner of a new 488 GTB, I am also a lover the the vintage classics. I love all things Ferrari, so I like to learn as much as I can.

Thanks Boudewijn. It took almost two months to me to do it but the result is fine.

I'm still searching the correct dimensions for this car. If anybody could help, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Very nice Cyril...i think your silhouette is more accurate than Marcel's, concerning the driver's side window hight, but Marcel's back spoiler and boot shape looks more correct.

Just out of curiosity, can someone tell me if Ferrari ever had a "factory" gt team (and if so, in what years), or were they always run by private teams?

I don't think the factory had a "GT team". Furthermore, 06885 was entered at the Targa Florio and Nürburgring as prototype which the car really was under the skin of a 275 GTB...

Thanks Cyril, amazing picture, it really helps to see the profil of the car....i now understand why your boot "drops " more than Marcel's drawing...i guess the correct shape should be "between" both drawings..but the spoiler is still "too fat" and the arch above the rear will also drops too much
Ps: please excuse my remarks about your drawing, i usualy see your work and think you have great skill, just call it a "professional defect", i also used to draw cars many years ago and i know how dificult it is to "catch2 the perfect shape. again, congratulations on your work.

Thank you, that was what i believed, although i had some doubts if in 62 and 63 Ferrari had "factory" GTOs entering Le Mans.

Just to make things very clear, that was NOT my drawing.
This came from Dean Batchelor's softbound book "Ferrari, The Gran Turismo & Competition Berlinettas", an excellent book published 1977.

Apologies for having been unclear in the beginning.

S.p.A. Ferrari SEFAC entered 4-liter 'Super' GTO/330 LM 3765 LM for the 1962 24 hours of Le Mans with drivers Mike Parkes and Lorenzo Bandini.

You were clear enough Marcel, it was i who didn't express myself correctly, when i wrote "Marcel's drawing" i meant the drawing you posted.
