This was a rare opportunity. It was an amazing journey to get that car to this level. Gary really hit it out of the park in the end.

I still think it is the best restored 350GT on this planet. Off to a new home to be further enjoyed.

Hi Richard, it is good to see that many 350 GT's are finally come out of the barns,
and being restored, because it is worth the investment these days.
Also very nice that it has been restored in the original Blu Notte color, just like it left the factory.
    Grazie e ciao!

    Hi

It is good to see it has the correct tyres 205VR15 PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN72 | Longstone Tyres

It is a comon mistake, that because thiis full profile 205Vr15 tyres was not available for so long people fitted the later 215/70VR15, which is a bit lower and a bit wider. People also mistake a 205/70VR15 tyre for a 205VR15 which is of coulds nearly an inch smaller in radius and over an inch and a half in diameter.

which is why i took this photograph. Thother 2 tyres are Michelin XWX, which are one of the best tyres of the '70s

The issue is the Pirelli are not speed rated tires.

The XWX are speed rated and thus a better tire if you are going to drive it.

Edited for typos and grammar corrected.

I had this tire as my very worn out spare on a then 46 year old Espada when I first purchased it. They were indeed much taller.

Speed rating has changed a lot over the years. Manufacturers like Ferrari, Maserati ... etc. weren't going to put or specify tires that didn't meet the service requirements of the car when driven fast and hard.

The VR rating is great example of that especially on the XWX in particular. Back in the day that tire was capable of way more than 150mph. I had Michelin engineers advise us that it was good for 200 mph when we queried them on usage for a high speed open road race.

The VR limit of 150 mph came later when they added all the new categories and was the minimum and for manufacturers with cars faster than that with the those tires on it it was up to manufacturer of the tires and vehicle to certify that it was safe. The 87 Ferrari Testarossa came with Z rated tires and that was an 185 mph car!

There's a famous tragic and fatal incident based around this misconception.

I deny, following Ubaldo Sgarzi multiple interviews who said to have never sold one to Fangio...

This pic shows the 350 GT holding a PROVA plate in MI = Milano, so a garage/dealer plate.

I will suggest it was with the Milano dealer Marchese Gerini - Lamborcar who has invited Fangio to test drive the car...

Thank you, got it, it would be very special to me IF he owned a Lamborghini!

Juan Manuel Fangio made me late for my wedding.

    True story.

In 1991, my late father-in-law and I went to Laguna Seca in what was believed to be a once-in-a-lifetime's opportunity to see perhaps the greatest race car driver to slip behind the wheel. He has supposed to drive his famed Grand Prix-winning W196 Mercedes @ 3pm, leaving me with just enough time to get ready for my wedding and make it over to Carmel to marry my still-wife. Well, as you know, things never go according to plan, and long story short, Fangio did not hIt the track till after @ 4pm! As soon as the hot laps were over, my father-in-law (a WWII pilot who drove like he was piloting a warplane) performed like a seasoned rally driver to get us to the hotel, change in 5 mins and get us to the wedding @ 15 mins late so he could walk his daughter down the aisle! But, we saw Fangio drive. That was a very special day for multiple reasons.

I have Fangio's image and the ticket from that day framed and in my office to this day.

    Sorry for the off-topic.

To clarify, the 350gt won best of show at the Lambo club dinner gala Saturday night. I understand that the blue Miura won best Lambo at concorso italiano.

Yes, #0358 won the Bull Award, highest award of LCA, as Best of Show.

A very pleasing result after a multi-year journey and body-off restoration to get the car as correct as possible.

I sold it to a new owner in the US a few months ago, he is another true enthusiast and also very pleased !

Very nice. As you get into the 3xx serial numbers many seem to be steel.
