I get it now, you thought the flag mirrors were applied by the works on a production QV?

If so, the obvious clue that the frontal image of the white car with single flag mirror is an LP400S would be the lack of the power-dome which is usually visible on a Downdraft even through the front 'screen.

As Emilio points out, Lamborghini's PR department were a bit lazy at the time, and flag mirrors were never officially used as standard supplied application for the QV.

I have seen flag mirrors used on everything from Espadas to all manner of Countachs from LP400 to 25th (as above).

IMVHO, they are an ungainly design, too boxy and utilitarian in design for something as sleek as the Countach, and the most suitable Lamborghini application I have seen used for is on several LM002.

That said, the owner is free to do anything they wish with their car.

Since the brochure comes with a photo of the rear I never figured to scrutinize the rest of the car! My mistake, I should have been more clear from the outset.

I'm not keen on putting an older part on a newer car, otherwise I wouldn't mind it. However, I have a set mocked up for the LM. Like you pointed out, it might suit the car.

No worries, Nuova Automobili Lamborghini SpA's own PR department made the same mistake!

Very very interesting. Can you please post some photos of the different toolkits? For that, I'd be very happy.

wouldnt these additions and modifications hurt the overall value of this car? it looks really nice otherwise.

Sometimes cars get a slight pass because they were modified "in period". Personally I think that's bordering on nonsense but the car is still beautiful none the less.

The original parts are included which is nice.

They are selling the car on the basis that it's a Periscopa (0034), but it exists as an LP400S, so, they'll have to allow for the cost of returning the car back to LP400 guise, which I might point out will not be the "relatively easy process" it's suggested. That said, if the numbers are right, this could be a nice buy.

Barry was on tv recently and said this was his most extravagant buy, but it never lasted long because he didn't like getting in and out of it. (Piers Morgan life stories).

I agree that it is a fantastic looking car as is but it would really benefit from being as the factory intended. assuming that they had to trim the body work for the flares and it sounds like a pretty messy project just to correctly get the body back to original.

And complete interior refresh, not sure if the suspension was also updated, would be big project all in and getting all of the parts together may also be a challenge.

Not sure at the moment that is a fairly easy change, main job at the moment is to get the harness out and then drop off to get new ones made.

Well, he apparantly did it very well.

Anyone who has had to put an LP400S back to an LP400 can tell you it's a bit of a challenge.

Apologies if this is a repost, it seems there are 2 specs for 5000S cams. I didn't know that the Swiss and FI cars ran the same cams. They can probably be reground back to euro spec.
