Thanks lemacc for the reference to the registry. I have all the records from Omicron work and am now trying to fill in the time from manufacture in 1975 until then. Ciao
My steering rack. Is it different from others? Looking to remove it to replace the commonly broken bush (where ever that is located in this rack). However, since it's been leaking fluid since I got it, I am wondering if my symptoms are from lack of fluid. I can not pull it away from the firewall as it is still attached (though I unbolted everything. Thinking the bar with teeth, while turning the steering wheel, comes out the passenger side and the that housing stays until the rack part it out, then that housing come out. At highway speed the steering wheel is not smooth, it moves in increments which is very unnerving. In every car we are moving our steering wheel ever so little in a straight line on the highway. This, in notches. Some education on these racks would be appreciated. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
At the Salon Prive Sale held on 2nd September RHD P250 15768 sold for £96188 including premium... https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/lamborghini-urraco-p250
So, I pulled the steering wheel and removed the rack. Here's some photos for those interested. Next is to clean/degrease and fill with fluid to see where it is leaking. As you can see where the dampener bolts, a past repair. And a picture of the one of the coolest steering wheels on earth. Sadly, these racks are all rubber boot that are clamped on and expected to hold fluid I believe. 2 ends and that long piece in the middle is rubber. Caveat emptor! The boots used for the ZF racks fitted to LHD cars are completely different to the ones used on the TRW racks fitted to RHD cars!
There is no connection inside the engine. I guess there is a couple possibilities. The T fitting might have broke, it was probably plastic, and the separate line was an improvised fix. T fittings like that are easily found at Home Depot in the plumbing section, and you can get them in brass for just a couple bucks. Another possibility is someone though it might improve the vacuum & pedal feel by pulling off of both sides of the engine.
It was for sale at Tom Hartley for £99,950 for ages so with a bit of haggling it could probably have been bought from the dealer for less than that.
I like this two P250 examples with their original interior. For sale now. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Someone recently was cashing tool roll details so I finally got around to photographing mine. I'm sure there's tools missing. The roll itself is made of heavy canvas with brown trim (probably vinyl) and leather buckles. Looking forward to meeting some of you this weekend in Switzerland. Who is actually formally registered (I am not and won't have my car there sadly).
I regret not being in Switzerland this coming weekend. Meanwhile keen V8 owners might like to consider bringing their cars to Cristina and Davide's annual V8 gathering held in Sant' Agata during May. Very relaxed and great fun... Btw that blue tool roll is the same as used for the Silhouette. Image Unavailable, Please Login
