Mr.Mayor, describe to me this 'emotion' thing? I'm concerned because God knows, I want EMOTION! but you seem to imply that Mac's don't have any....

Mclife isn't a very active forum . Many regional fb groups have been started and that's where most owners discuss mac things.

I'd say you're probably getting a more balanced viewpoint in this forum then you might get over on mclife .

I'm not sure about noone but just about every mac owner posting on this thread owns mac's and Ferrari's

In real life the only owners I hear talking about emotions , depreciation , etc are the ones who visit these forums . It seems the talking points on these forums have seeped into their heads like it has become their own thoughts .

You'll hardly hear any of these things with most owners outside these forums.

This is hands down the most active and diverse Forum. I know it's F chat but the best discussion in general happens here.

Also Mayor, I felt quite emotional during the 720S drive I had. Best car I've ever driven. I nearly cried.

McLaren customers had to come from somewhere. It's not like all their customers bought supercars for the first time in their life starting in 2011.

I think you'll find more balanced views on ML simply because they all had to have owned stuff prior to McLaren for the most part and the brand is much younger. RT is another good place even though there is a Porsche bias.

I personally have never owned a Ferrari. I'm young and their models just never dropped at the right time to really be in the running.

But I thought Mayor had told us that Ferraris have masses of emotion. The feeling of 0-120 in 7 seconds like the 720S does couldn't possibly induce any emotion.

You are right. They did get my attention. However, Ferrari will still get my money.

    It's a win-win.

I completely agree. Driving these mighty super cars today feels no different than a Camry on the street.

    This.

1965 mustang by far the biggest disruptive vehicle, then the Lexus and NSX.

    720 blip.

I'm not sure I'd go that far! I may not have liked my 488 but I'd take it over a Camry!!! And I'd take my Speciale over both....I feel that for the first time since the 355, Ferrari have not moved forward with the 488. They've moved sideways perhaps but not forwards. I enjoy the Speciale much more than the 488, and I would include Mac's 720s in that comparison as well.

Nissan 240z was disruptive, Mercedes 300sl, Chevy Corvair, VW beetle, Muira to name a few, Tesla model S will go down as one when the smoke clears

very gimmicky car, the suspension set up on mine was so bad that it may have been just totally out of alignment because it wobbled and pitched and leaned. i spoke with tech and they gave me the usual 'they all do that'
but also the hyper active steering, lack of any turbo rush(never felt like 650hp to me), fake sounds, dated interior, i could also feel the weight of the car, she's not light....i like the way it looked but overall its a poor 458 facelift. i'd stick with a 458 or better yet a Speciale. the Speciale is the perfect evolution of the mid-engined ferrari v8 IMO. planted, linear light and honest.

Funny to read that, when a 488 GTB is (and not just in a few pre-release tests) consistently quicker than a 458 Speciale around any track...
So when a 720S is ground breaking for being faster (mostly on straight line) than a 488 GTB, a 488 GTB is just a poor facelift for being faster than a Speciale in any conditions.
Fortunately for me I'm obviously a less demanding (and maybe also less biased) driver :)

i never said the 488 was slower than a 458 speciale, and especially since we are talking about ferrari's, there is no point in absolute speed or lap times...its all about EMOTION and feel in these cars....

If you actually believe that I feel sorry for you. The difference between a super car and a Camry
even on a regular street is massive. The differences are readily apparent at virtually any speed. Clearly the full potential performance capabilities of an exotic will only be realized on a track or a secluded , twisting road. But since you never drive your car on these, why bother buying a Ferrari when you only drive on a street. Oh I forgot. It is the emotion the Ferrari engenders even though it drives exactly like a Camry for your purpose.

That's why Mayor has a 4C. Saw a white one the other day for the first time. Nice looking little car from the rear. Exhaust was annoyingly loud. Front was not my cup of tea. Neat car, but not $100K neat.
