First a bit of explaining.. I've been publishing these travel car books for a few years and am trying to transition over to a car travel magazine. I think it would be really cool to find a Ferrari owner who would be willing to have me shoot their car and put it on one of my first covers (first or second) and then do a small feature about driving a Ferrari in Hawaii. Few thoughts - - I don't want to touch your car. Don't need to get in it, drive it, move it. I love Ferraris, but want you to handle it (in other words I am not looking for a joyride) - Other than gas, I can't pay for this. BUT I will list you as the owner and hopefully do a Q & A about living in Hawaii. - Ferrari should be red (Thanks Magnum PI) and hopefully an open top. Newer the better - Sunset picture or some very obvious spot that screams out "This is HAWAII!!" If it is a sunset, count on maybe 20 mins of prep and 10 mins of pictures. - Oahu only. I will be there July 23 to August 5 (about 2 weeks). We have made some family plans a few days but am pretty flexible. See linky below for my business or go to amazon.com and type "via corsa" to see what books I've done. IF you are interested, post or PM!!
If you decide you want to do black let me know. Or if you find a red and need a black one in the background to mix it up!
So far black it is as you are the only one to have replied. I will be contacting the Ferrari dealer there to see what they think and what they have around. I'll get back to you soon. Thanks for the offer!
I might be able to scare up a black 430 coupe to go along with my black 360 coupe. I will reach out to my hero who told me about my car in the showroom. He has a red 430 spider! I can PM you the dealer email tomorrow when I get to my office. He is on here too! I think it's WBC????
Copper! Oh how I miss the late 70s and early 80s. What a great car? 77 is a non-inter cooler car? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's the Porsche club or one of the factions of it. One of the guys in my neighborhood goes over and I get a little jealous when he drives by and your right it is early by local standards but just right when you live on the crowded mainland and you want some clear streets to drive on!
The Pcar group is a bunch of my good friends. We were all in a wedding party a couple years ago. There is a really nice red 997 in that group and would look great on a mag cover. lol
I would love a perfect candidate! I'll throw in a collection of all past guidebooks and lots of copies of the magazine when printed
I have the shot all planned out in my head already. Gil, you and I (the cars) are at 10 and 2 o'clock with Mr. R front and center. He is sitting in his car with the door open, top down, his great smile and of course a clear view of his special driving shoes!
Talked to the dealer today and they are very interested in supplying a car. BUT!!! I think I might want to ask you guys about drives. Not just any drive, but really cool secret hidden away from tourists kinds of drives. More as a sort out everything!
Hi there Ron. Sorry I'm late to the party but I've been juggling a few things around. My buddies, Gil and Kevin have the 2 black cars that they have offered for the photo shoot. I have a red 430 Spider but I'm not sure if I can make the weekends that you'll be here. Hopefully JNExotics has a nice red Ferrari available. As far as hidden roads, there aren't any. I've lived here all my life but once you've been here a week (or less), you'll know basically all the roads. I've been on Kolekole Pass a number of times but that was back in the 70's when driving on a military base was quite easy for a car club. Too bad ... was a nice drive. If I'm free, I can meet up with everyone. If not, enjoy your stay!
A drive out of the way from tourists would be Kailuas turns. In terms of away from tourists. Hanauma bay to sandy beach is a nice road but I haven't been there in a long time and it could be crowded. If your looking more for high speed, I'd suggest h3 or h1 from Kunia to makakilo-kapolei. North south road is also a nice spot but is a 35 mph area and has cops from Time to time. Would love to join if my schedule is open.
VERY, very crowded! Still it is beautiful. It seems like every time I try to pick an off time to drive it I end up behind a slow truck pulling a fishing boat or one that is literally falling apart right before my eyes! Another bummer is being in the Ferrari it is too low to cruise the parking lot at Sandy Beach!
