Wow! Bummer. I sold that car new to the original owner in December '07. One of the early 599s in the U.S. (note the steel brake rotors). He kept the car in flawless condition and drove it a lot. A year or so after taking delivery he had the factory HGTE package installed - which made a great car even better. He then traded it in on a 599 GTO. I don't know who had the accident with the car but a damn shame it happened.
