I am starting this thread in the hope to build a complete list of the unloved factory injected Countaches.
    This for 2 reasons:

    1) Little is known about them and that history must be exposed.

    2) It should be easy to collectively get to the bottom of that list and get a collective instant gratification...

I got the idea from Robert in England who decided to list all the RHD and also from the 25th thread. I wish Robert will start his list as well with picture. I think it is a good idea. The countach thread is too big to specialize.

So I’ll shoot with my information to start the discussion and the gathering of more detailed information by their owners and 1st hand observers. I put question mark on cars I am not sure of.

It is said that 37 factory injected Countach made. Here is the list of what I know. Don’t be shy to add or correct with info. If 37 is right, we do miss 17and that is 1/2of them.

    8. ELA12711, 1984, Black/Tan, in the USA

    18. ? FLA12789, 1985, white, wrecked. Georges Evans got it. He should know what it was.

Excellent thread Patrick!!! I have said for over a decade that a Countach is a Countach and there is nothing that should be unloved about an Injected car.

Really? That number seems so low considering the total number made.
    Learn something new every day.

  7. That's the approx number for the 5000s not the QV production.

This car was originally delivered to germany as carbed, exported to US and converted to FI, sold to switzerland where it was for sale at Affolter, it was sold and I lost trace, I heard it was converted back to original carbed setup.

I was speaking with Gary Bobileff and he told me that all these fuel injected 5000S cars were sent to the USA with carbs on, and no DOT bumpers, and that all the conversion work was then done by some guys in Torrance CA.

Then I saw this post- http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/141745261-post14728.html

which shows all the 5000s cars getting imported, again, no DOT stuff.

So I'm wondering if it's correct to call these cars "factory fuel injection cars." It seems that the FI and bumpers came post production, in the USA, far far away from the factory.

QV cars came from the factory with fuel injection, but 5000S cars never did. Not one single 5000S car left the factory with fuel injection. Various people just put the fuel injection on later.

Who made up and cast the intakes? It looks like there are few very custom looking castings in there, was this a kit made by lambo But dealer installed?

Thks Raymond. So that was a carb delivered.

I should have made the title 2V factory injected to be more precise. this does not include the 4v QV.
If anyone can tell me how to change that title I'll appreciate it.

How did that ELA burned? Seems that we got 2 2v injected totalled then.

    Correct.

    On an LP500S, fuel-injection is a post-production application.

Those some guys in Torrance CA are/were

    Fairway Environmental Engineering
    3032 Kashiwa St. Torrance,CA 90505

The few mods that were done on my car (side marker lights rear skinny bumper) & TWC-CL,02sensor,EGR *air pump not required* were done by BAE Turbo Systems.

How do I know the above? I'm looking at my import papers and DOT paperwork on my car.

I have every stitch of paperwork from my car from when it left the factory which is really cool.

My car is exactly as it left inspection and I don't see an 02 sensor or any EGR equip it has the F1 Ansa exhaust, and it even has those little black emissions tamper proof tabs still on the carbs.

I wonder the exact date they started with the FI 2v cars?

Must have not been started too many after my carb'd car came in. My inspection date was Aug 1984.

The entire injection system for the S model is listed in the factory parts manual. That led me to believe some may have been factory installed

  18. Well what about the camshafts? If they are indeed different as claimed by many, where did they get changed at?

I have to disagree...We have records from Ingrid showing 12-14 FACTORY FI cars in 1985.

ONLY FLA serial number cars are factory cars... all other cars were converted later.

Then, for purposes of this thread & clarification of which ones, please share.

I still think that the factory noted this in their records simply because Trefor & Jas told them they had converted those cars, but in fact the application was done post-production in the USA.

FLA Cars have Lamborghini cast into the intake plentum unlike the ELA cars among many other differences including the 86- style rear bumper and US style front bumper with and without lenses.
