Hey All Just thought I'd share my work in progress in making the Countach LP500s. JamesArk's ex Countach is up for sale down the road from my work and was able to snap some comparison pics - I was soooo excited and I was shaking. Haha Enjoy these pics So far I have done: Rear Badges "Lamborghini (BULL) Countach 5000S" Rear Wing 2 Wing mirrors Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is and very exciting too Yes 3D printing it, I will break up my 3D model into parts that fit in the printer then glue them together, put a special resin on it and sand it smooth ( as printing leaves layer grooves) After I have everything printed I will make a mold for every part and then pour resin in it. I want to be able to make multiple Countach's. for some parts i will just print at high quality and just paint it (steering wheel and small stuff). I am printing the rear Alloy as we speak, it is a 21 hour print on "Normal" quality.
Thanks guys I modeled it myself - every little detail using as many images I can grab of the net. Even the "nipples" on the headlights is there, door screws and urethane fillers , everything I saw. The 3D model took a lot of my spare time to make. Car of my dream since I was 3 and so I wanted to get it right and restarted several times. A colleague of mine saw this poster thrown out on the street and gave it to me today Many grew up with that poster on their walls, I grew up to my dads photos. The poster is almost 1/4 scale! and its kinda cool, it gives me the sense of size! At work I have tiny Countach, then a model that i guess is around 1/42 or something, then a 1/18 and a 1/12. I am really excited. I printed the steering wheel, and wheel caps and nuts today. No pictures at the moment though. Enjoy guys ! I'll keep you guys posted ,the hardest part at the moment is the body panels as I need to slice them to fit the printer build volume. on top of that, I have to glue them together etc. Ultimately I will be making molds and cast multiple Countach's - I am sure a collector would be interested in buying a 1/4 Countach kit Jimmy N. Fantastic work! I'll take one! By the way, which brand is the biggest Countach model on your picture? Please keep the good work going, and keep us informed.
Oh I'm blushing now Thanks guys, The big 1/12 is a Kyosho worth $560 US -it is really nice and as big as a computer keyboard. you can get a 1/8 LP400 from FineModelCars that sell for a whopping $5600 or pounds, can't remember. I thought I would build my own This is a 3D render with lighting. Of course you can see more on my facebook page www.facebook.com/jnvisuals Cheers guys - It is nice to get encouraging words from Exotic car owners, especially Countach owners Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very impressive indeed... But I must say.. something does not look right in the proportions and angles of your model... hard to tell exactly what, but I give it a try... the curve of the side - the side window height & angle - front wheel arch extension shape. My guess is that it will be very noticable on such a large scale model, but I do hope I'm wrong.
Thank you! It is very very hard to 3D model something pretty much by eye and have it match the real thing. Especially if you compare side by side. I can easily list about 10 thinks that are off from my model to the real thing, but that is probably because I look at Countach photos every day. Best way to model something 100% exact is to simply scan the real car. Best way to describe my 3D model is "a decent replica" really. If anyone in Sydney wants me to scan their Countach, let me know hahaha. On a serious note though, this is another car I am modelling but using a Photoscanning technique. Cheers! NB. I just came from down the road where they are selling a Maserati Indy blue on blue which I think my dad owned in the 70's here in Australia. Such a cool car! Here we are I had soooooo much trouble with the new plastic reel. It was tangling up 10-15 hours into a 40 hour print. I had to lifehack the heck out of it to prevent it from tangeling. Finally though, a decent section of the bodywork Behold! Note it is put together with masking tape. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
