Very cool!!! Can't wait to see the progress!!!

I spy in the one photo next to the Ducati 900 Darmah, the unmistakable intake manifold and carbs from a Maserati. Is it a Ghibli? Looks like the front grill next to it.

mama mia.... what a thread this will be!!!

What's the color that's on it now, and will you be changing it?

The odometer's 9384km is correct for the car?

Is that the original seat leather?

    Thanks for sharing the journey!!!

The car's original color was Luce di Bosco, and literally translated, that means " light of the woods' and when purchased, it had Ford truck brown lovingly applied on top of the original color ! Regarding the mileage, the first digit is a 2, which isn't clearly shown in the photo. The tan interior was original, but is all being redone. And, I don't know about the Maser parts, as these photo's were taken at the seller's house.

Last-but-one or next-to-last LP400 chassis number (second to the last would be 1120296).

Finished by the works in Luci Del Bosco [lights of the forest] PPG 2-463-550/Senape

    My notes show:

First USA owner was Robert Katz, West Orange, New Jersey.

Then to Norman King, St. Augustine, Florida.

Then to John Kyle, Miami, Florida.

For illustrative purposes here below is 1120096 in LDB.

The original lp400 design is so pure and magnificent.

Why people gravitate towards the lp500 is beyond me

    Very subjective discussion.

Many people enjoy the LP400 and the later wider-bodied cars also.

The Countach LP400S S1 and the Countach Downdraft have many fans who think those cars look devastatingly aggressive & striking.

Personally I love them all, something for everyone!

I've known this car since 1981. I think you missed one owner after Kyle, photos look like they were taken in Steve Klausen's house.

Last I saw it was in 2005 in one piece in a garage in Ftl. The owner had a second lp400 that was in a house fire. He told me he was going to restore this car and paint it purple.

Steve Klausen as in Ft lauderdale exotic car service shop? Remember seeing a Brown Periscopo in his shop in aprox 2000/01, but that car ,to my best recollection, was freshly restored at the time, (Steve serviced my 91Diablo) nice guy, always did good work.anyway ,hopefully its not the same car, hate to see it deteriorating this much in the last 17 years, unless i missed the real overall condition of the car when i saw it back then

I'm no fan of brown, but looks incredible on that car.

Looking forward to watching the progress!

Peter, not to be pedantic, but its LUCI del Bosco.

Random application seems to be a recurring theme...

    Hope you are well.

If you really want to get picky, in Italian, the translation for "forest" is Foresta, the translation for "woods" is bosco. I thought this thread had to do with cars and restorations, not the usage or mis- use of grammer!

Restoration threads are all about the DETAILS.

Since the restoration apparently hasn't started yet, we are speaking of the car's details, as you say, "literally translated".

The reason why LUCI del Bosco is generally described in the car community with Forest and not Woods is explained here: word choice - When would you say "woods", and when would you say "forest"? - English Language & Usage Stack Exchange

Its a popular color with Italian car-makers of the era, and its literal translation is well-established.

Meanwhile, my input here (& elsewhere) is to give useful and accurate information, as always.
