A few years back I started a thread in the lifestyle/fine dining section titled "Latest Las Vegas". I thought it could be a good resource for the local guys to share info with frequent and infrequent visitors. A lot of the posts were very helpful and from people who knew what they were talking about. Any interest in this thread here in the Las Vegas Section? Thanks Keith

I'll post a couple of my many "go to" favorites on the strip. Paris Hotel has "Mon Ami Gabi", a very nice French bistro with an excellent menu. Great prices considering location, and you have to get a table on the patio rail, a must if you want to "impress" your guest(s). People watching with the Bellagio fountains across the street is memorable. I look for cars on the strip for extra entertainment ;)
Just above it is the Eiffel Tower restaurant. Fantastic special occasion, good for lunch and dinner. Pricey but well worth it. The corner table facing the Bellagio has the best view on the strip, easier to obtain during the week for lunch if you tell them it's a special occasion.

Thanks Fred and Stephane. People should know that you can't reserve outside tables at Gabi...you have to sign up at the hostess stand. We like Jaleo in Cosmo; Lotus of Siam in CBD; Bouchon in Venezia is coming back around; Le Cirque Bellagio our favorite. We will be out for Thanksgiving week and I am always interested in new spots.

Jaleo and Lotus of Siam are excellent. Sage, Sinatra's, Bazaar Meats, Milo's, and Julian Serrano are all excellent as well. Bazaar Meats was one of the best meals I've ever head.

By the way anybody have any juice at venetian/palazzo. I want to take my family to the Sinatra show there over Thanksgiving and am looking for discount/promotional code for 5 seats. I bought 6 tickets for the show last April and really liked it...had a discount then but all of my comps are with the MLife people. Thanks in advance. Keith

Bob's Sinatra show is closing November 28th, so make sure you lock up those tickets soon. There normally are a good amount of seats available, but if you're cutting it that close to the final show date, there might not be.

Believe it or not I had a great Suishi / Sashimi dinner at the BlueRibbon in the Cosmo some years ago. Haven't had a chance to get back in a while. I remember it wasn't cheap but I was surprise at the quality.

You know I spend several months of the year in Hong Kong so I never eat Chinese in the USA!

I'm the wrong person to ask. :)

Wow... good luck. There's still some awesome deals out there.

Some well known posters here are moving to LV next year. :) They bought a plot not far from my home in Rhodes Ranch.

So far the best Chinese I've had is at Chin Chin (New York New York), and Lilly's at the Golden Nugget. Great for families too.

Traditional Thanksgiving in LAS? Looking for a place for 5 of my family including my 84 year old Mom who requires the traditional turkey, stuffing, pumpkin pie. Last year I took us to a very well known high end strip property advertising just this sort of thing and it was pretty bad. I am thinking about Sage in Aria. Does not have to be Strip property, my brother lives NW near Aliante casino. So Red Rock/Summerlin also fine. Pleased to have your suggestions, and thanks. Keith

Bazaar Meat at the SLS is doing a Thanksgiving menu, only $85.00. Normally dinner and drinks here can run $200-$300 a person. I have been here a few times and don't think you can go wrong.

I've eaten there a few times and have always enjoyed it, but I'm easy to please when it comes to food. For what it's worth, my foodie friends raved about it for weeks afterward.

Bazaar Meats and Sage are both excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to go to either.

Thank you everyone; more ideas welcomed. Will post results. Heading out Monday for a week. Looking at some property, too. Wish I could find a 3-4 month winter rental that would take a big dog.

I have not eaten there. I looked at the menu for some Asian friends who were coming over and thought the prices were beyond ridiculous.

Example: $6 PER PERSON for Jasmine Tea? Let me get this straight.... you have 4 people who sit down for dinner and you've already spent $24 plus taxes and tip? $29 for Bak Choi vegetables? Are you joking?

There is a new Asian casino going up just off the Strip on Sahara. It's supposed to be catering to Asians coming from China. My hope is they may actually have a decent authentic Chinese restaurant at reasonable prices. I don't mind paying for a meal but I don't want to feel ripped off either.

That being said, the SLS has an authentic Dim Sum and noodle bar that looks pretty much like you would get in Hong Kong any day of the week. It's not dinner but it looked quite good (I didn't eat there). Someone told me Ping Pang Pong at the Golden Coast has good Dim Sum also but I haven't been there.

One of my go-to places is Pho Kim Long on Spring Mountain at Valley View. It's Vietnamese, but has Chinese entrees too. Kung Fu in the same plaza is solid, but I go to Kim Long a few times a month.

My latest Thai fixation is Weera, on Sahara just West of Valley View. Try the roast duck pad thai. TBH I like Lotus of Siam but have always thought it was inflated by hype. Maybe back 20 years ago, there wasn't the Thai selection in town, but now there are at least 30-40 Thai places to choose from.

Disclaimer: my dining tends to be in the $9-20 entree range.
