Anyone going to Sema ignited Friday night?
For those that missed it... don't next year! Ignited was a lot of fun. Worth 20 bucks? Oh, probably not. But for people who always wanted to know what's inside SEMA but can't get in it's a pretty good event. Almost all the cars paraded for hours around the crowd, then there was a formula drift demo, some guys lighting up classic drag racers, and then the Battle of the Builders presentation. Thousands came out in the old parking area of the Rivera. If you like to hear cars revving their engines, this is your thing. The week or just a few days before SEMA go on Craigslist Las Vegas under tickets, there are plenty of ads selling extra badges. This is what my friends and I did back in November, we had 4 official badges but we were short 2, just went on Craigslist and bought two more so all six of us could get in.
Found it Exhibit Hours LVCC & Westgate Exhibits New Products Showcase Tuesday, October 31 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Friday, November 3 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
We shall see if I can get access this year. Keeping my fingers crossed. One of my Jeeper Friends has said he would get me a badge, then it comes down to work and schedule's etc.
I have a pass if anyone needs one. My office is at St Rose and the 215 if you want to pick it up tomorrow. This years passes have markings only visible by black light which there checking when you enter the show.
That is a problem. The have a special UV ink stamp on the real ones. That’s new for this year. Also more secrurity checking bags and metal detectors. Today was insanely crowded. The venue to the south and east is greatly increased in size. It seems like it goes on forever. I will be at Sema ignited on Friday. It’s open to the public. I think the cost is 20. Sema attendants are free.
Maybe I will just go to Ingnite tonight. I am having a nice relaxing day today as I took some time off work.

I would say about double the people. The star of the show was Max Vestappen driving his RB F1 car. Here are some pictures. Max came out twice and did donuts for about 3 minutes and signed autographs as well.
So did they do away with the hologram on the badging and replace it with a blue light ink, or is it now both security features on the badge ? We skipped this year, going next year. My group always has four official badges, it's only when we go over this that I need to buy more like last year.
There is no hologram but only the invisible ink. Ironically for the first time in 5 years they didn't hassle me about getting a badge when I registered -- and I've gone more than 10 years in a row. But my guess is next year they will change again. CES this year requires you to put upload a headshot to complete registration. Its hard to use someone else's badge with their photo on it. There was more security this year as well as metal detectors.
