Tomorrow we're getting a stunning Merak in. It has had some interior bits covered in leather, and all the shiny bits were refurbished in new chrome. It's just an amazing car. Are there any specific photos you guys would like me to take?

The car is not for sale (The owner really loves it), but I figured I'd get some opinions/requests from car guys.

i had a 79 ss w/ 16,000 orig miles and it was all original and nearly flawless w/ the exception of some small checking in the paint.

it was a fantastic car and ended up selling it for a bora. the merak ss is very much under rated!

is it owned by a nice fellow named John? (im guessing no... since i dont think he has anything refurbished, or in need of it)

if so; i have a few pictures of his car... and many many more to come :) + some extras!

the Merak really impresses me... im 6'2" and fit with plenty of room... only 'downside' is my feet are a bit wide; and thinner shoes would be more important when doing some spirited driving.

    This one is for sale.

    Fresh paint, refreshed interior.

Not a ton of money, either.

Looked like fun, I actually considered buying this myself.

    Under 50K miles, I think.

PM me if you're interested, I'll give the info there.

The owner never showed up because it was raining.

As soon as he brings it in, I'll post the photos I take. Let's just turn this into a Merak picture thread... Anyone have any other photos?

I love the Merak - ever since that fateful day when R&T published my favorite road test of the 308 Dino, Urraco and Merak while I was in high school.
Can anyone comment on the uneven firing V-6 with respect to smoothness and reliability?

that car looks like it could be my old car. red/black w/ 18k orig miles and as new...even new xwx's!

sold it to eddie karam so i'm certain it was sold again very soon thereafter.

they are sweet cars. the sound was rough off idle but under full throttle acceleration, they made a great wail! they also needed rear wheel spacers to even out the look...the pictures just reminded me of that.

I think the Merak is one of the last 'bargain' exotics out there. They still look great.

Remeber that one episode of Top Gear where Jermey Clarkson buys what he thinks is a Merak SS but really isnt, and its engine is all screwed up? I love that. I really like the merak, its a neat car.

they were (are?) dirt cheap...I literally gave my mint SS ( yellow/black...went to a collector in VA) I had the orig manuals, tools "tractor tire spare" jack etc...problem was it was slow, and parts were a nightmare in cost to get, car (i thought) was a distinctive work of art..scuplture....almost everyone else hated it.. rear seats are a laugh..

the owner is a great guy, i have some more pictures of his Merak SS @ www.nthimage.com in one of the autozone events' pages.

    his Merak is absolutely STUNNING!

I see he has fitted the much nicer bumper in too; makes an absolute world of difference IMO
