This amusing picture is from the road test of the Mistral Coupe in Quattroruote, August 1967. Sorry about the fold. Image Unavailable, Please Login
On a technical note, Mistrals came with an early Lucas fuel injection, I believe, that many folks removed and put on the previous Maserati 6 cylinder sidedraft Webers. I was curious if any one had any experience driving either, and does the retro-fit affect market value? Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is #109. Very nice car. I took it to the Amelia Island Concourse around 2000 and sold it in 2002. More photos at: http://thecarnut.com/mistralspyder.html Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is #1160. I found this car is South Carolina. Someone had spent a ton of money in the restoration and never finsihed it. Currently owned by a friend in the Atlanta area who will eventually put it back together. He also owns #1200. This is #1200. I found this coupe and spyder #1691 just north of Seattle. This coupe needs everything but is complete and all together. My friend that owns the unfinished restoration (see above) currently has this car as a guide to put the silver coupe back together. This is #1691, which I currently own. It is a 4.0 liter version, still with its Lucas fuel injection (late style dry type). It was painted an ugly "root beer" color; last year it returned to its original argento color. It has a hard top but the darn thing is so ugly that I did not bother restoring it. Ivan do you know anything about Mistral #1018? It is a 4 litre from 1966. The car was bought in USA in 1988 i think, and was exported to Sweden its now owned by a friend. He has got many problems with the Lucas-system he sent the system to an expert in Netherlands. Now the cars is going fine. Best regards Magnus
The Mistral #1650 was exported from Sweden to USA in 1984 i think. Do anyone know something about this car?
...and Walter answers: #1018 was owned in 1987 by Dante B. Tedaldi from New Rochelle, NY./USA. No further available info! Ciao! Walter
...and Walter answers again: #1650 was owned in 1976 by JAEGERSROVAEGENS BIL -Malmoe/S, (reg. GJN 856). It came later in the US and was owned in 1991 by Garry Deftinger who was from Wichita, OK./USA. No further available info! Ciao! Walter
Today, I saw this car near my hometown. The owner was rather embarrassed as I told him that his car was not a real 200s or 300s Maserati. He said it's a "recration" of a 50's Maserati. Chassis and engine are from a Mistral. The body was made in France. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have no problem with recreations as long as the owner does not try to pass them off as anything but a recreation. The car looks like it would be great fun to drive.
No one can claim as original: the body is wrong, the engine is wrong, the LHD is wrong, the idea is wrong, EVERYTHING is wrong with this ...something!!! Another so called "hommage"..??? Ciao! Walter
Attached is photo of 109.102... When I purchased the car back in 1997, it was titled as a 1969...The build info on the car has it as a 1964 and I believe this to be correct based on the 3.7 l engine, 5 switches on the dash, round center console with just the little chrome ashtray... I think some Motor Vehicle Dept accidentally typed 69 vs 64... But who knows... Walter...Do you have any info on this one? Someday, it will be restored! Mike D. Image Unavailable, Please Login
