I am looking for colour photos of the 151/3 (sometimes termed 154) at LeMans testing 1965?

believed white with red and blue stripes

I assume you are looking for 151 #002? The 3rd 151 #006 was white with Blue stripes with a red stripe on the nose above the grill opening.

correct - #002 evolved to 151/3 and was the only 151 entered at Le Mans in 65 - obviously only making preliminaries - with engines supporting the Tipo 65

Greatly enjoyed doing a story in 1995, interviewing the late Maurice Trintignant, Skip Hudson.
Giulio Alfieri was coy in his fax reply because the initial design of the rear suspension (in 62) was flawed.

This famous photo shows Guerrinno Bertocchi testing at Modena in March or April of 65 before the car went to Le Mans for April testing where Lucky Cassner died in it.

His co driver Masten Gregory -who could have been in the car- found a job with Nart driving an old 250LM with Rindt...and won the race...fate...

Yes I saw L. Auriana the owner of the 151 #006 at the Bonhams Monaco auction last year with Adolfo "Rasputin" Orsi (he thinks I nickname him like that because of the beard but it is because of the temper too:)) and told Mr A. that it would be fabulous to see the 151 at Le Mans Classic, that it would cause a stir equal to the Breadvan showing up in 2008 and he said yes that is something he would like to do down the road but that the car needs to be completely redone and that is a process not even close to beginning apparently.

He already had one of his cars -not a Maser- do Le Mans Classic a few years ago (he does not race himself) so he fully appreciates the event.

I had visited Peter Kaus summer 95 and he pulled the recreation of the 151/3 out for my article photo shoot, I later regretted not taking out 006 as well but I always found the story of 002 the most compelling one so wasn't focused on the early version.

Sports Car International #120 April May 1997. I guess I went to visit Kaus summer 96, not 95.

The French magazine Auto Passion ran an enlarged version of my article, 10 pages, with different archive photos and some very nice drawings of the car, from above, side, front and rear in their #118, Mars Avril 1998

Look for them on ebay.com and ebay.fr I have no spares, sorry.

Thanks Walter, I am resigned to not finding pictures of the 151 in colour, with stripes, in 65

The colouring of the tipo 65 is probably similar/same

    ciao

There is a book "Maserati Tipo 151: The Last Monster from Modena" (2006) by Michel Bollee and Willem Ossthoek. The review of the book in C&S, April 2006, shows color pictures. Price at that time was 49.99 GBP.

Your link is invalid, can you please post a photo?

If this car shown in the link below is the car in Essen then it is Barrie Baxter's much improved replica with many genuine parts based on the previous less precise replica by Peter Kaus.

This shows it at the Goodwood Members meeting last month.

Goodwood Members Meeting 2015 - Photo Gallery

The car's look is now precisely that of the fatal test day of April 65.

I saw it race at the Revival a couple of years ago and it was eerie, like seeing a ghost. Jochen Mass who drove it that day was impressed with it and it was its first real outing it was not fully sorted.

    Best regards,

    Marc
