    Hi Guys,

I am putting together a file of Maserati Ghibli Right Hand Drive cars, not very many Maserati Factory RHD cars were sold new here, in the 1970s some European cars were imported into Australia however they all had to be converted to RHD as this was the Australian regulations until recently, I would welcome input from other RHD countries - England - Hong Kong - New Zealand - South Africa, I believe there are possibly 20 Ghiblis in Australia, with perhaps only 4 - 5 sold here new, my records to date are as follows.

AM 115 - 094 - 1967 - 4.7L manual coupe, sold new in England - original RHD imported into Australia in 2005 by Phil Nash, believed to be the 1st RHD car built.

AM 115 - 344 - 1968 - 4.7L manual coupe, sold new in Venice (10/3/1968) to Giuseppe De Montis - Mestre Italy, imported into Australia in the 1970s, converted to RHD, this car has been fully restored, owned by D Zeunert - Melbourne.

AM 115 - 348 - this car is believed to be in New Zealand, no other details at this moment.

AM 115 - 562 - 4.7L manual, believed to be an original RHD car, believed sold new to Peter Sellers, England, car imported into Australia.

AM 115 - 924 - 4.7L manual coupe, believed sold new in Rome, imported into Australia & converted to RHD.

AM 115 - 1040 - 4.7L manual coupe, sold in Australia to Bob Jane (300s owner) original factory RHD car - originally white with blue leather trim.

AM 115 S - 49 - 1229 spyder sold new in England , 1970 London Motor Show Car, original factory RHD car, sold new to Dr Collins.

AM 115 SS- 49 - 1251 spyder originally white with blue leather, believed to be an original factory RHD car, this car believed sold new in England.

AM 115 - 1754 - 4.7L - 1971 coupe, body by Ghia #10225 sold new in Sydney Australia by Alex Mildren (Australian Agent Sydney) Celeste Blue with Connolly white leather trim, ordered with special cams & diff ratio, car still in original condition, owned since 1991 by D Zeunert - Melbourne.

AM 115 SS - 1854 - manual coupe 4.9L SS, original factory RHD car believed sold new by Alex Mildren (Australian Agent Sydney) believed Verde Gemma with white leather, stayed in Australia 1970 - 1990 then sold to the UK & restored.

AM 115 SS - 49 - 2206 - manual coupe, body # 100101, origina factory LHD car, imported into Australia & converted to RHD, now silver with black trim.

AM 115 SS - 49 - 2468 - manual coupe, original LHD car, imported into Australia & converted to RHD.

AM 115 - 2496 - late model car offered for sale in Australia, no further details at this moment.

I am very interested to hear form other Maserati owners & historians as to the details of their cars, there are many others to add to this list, when i met with Emmanno Cozza in 1986 at the factory he gave me these details on the Maserati Ghibli

    1967 - 1972 - 1250 Coupes (500 4.9L)
    1967 - 1972 - 150 Spyders.
    RHD - 27 Coupes - (8 - 4.9L coupes & 3 - 4.9L Spyders)

    Regards,

    David Zeunert - Melbourne - Australia - [email protected] - 2/12/2012.

The percentage of RHD cars is very low, compared to Khamsin (421 total, 73 EHD)

I don't know of any Ghibli's in SA. but will verify with the club. (I haven't been looking, so there might still be some)

    Hi David

Just stumbled across this thread. I've got #1856 RHD SS, Original colour: Rame metallic with black. It was the London Motor Show 1970.

I'm restoring it fully - it should be ready for action around Xmas 2014!

    Regards, Doug

So, in 1972, 4.7L cars were still in production?

    Hi Francesco,

Yes from my understanding they were using the 4.7l engine in Ghiblis in 1972, this engine I think also went into the Indy, the Bora also ran the 4.7L & 4.9l engines,

    Hi David

The car went direct to Citroen Cars, U.K for display at the Motor Show (I've got the original factory docs). The car was first registered 25/5/71 and sold through a dealership to Mr Arthur Webb who must have been the 1st actual owner.

I've been to see Roger's car - a Ghibli looks great in Green!

    Regards, Doug

    Hi Guys,

    AM 115 - 562

Currently in Melbourne, believed to have been sold new to Mrs Sellers (Britt Eckland - wife of Peter Sellers) in Rome, this car came to Australia in the 1970s, next seen for sale in 1978 @ John Ould Motors Armadale Melbourne, the car had been converted to RHD as was the Australian regulation in force then, in the 1980s the car went to South Australia & was owned by Frank Bett, some time later it was owned by Peter Bell, currently in Melbourne with Rocco Calebrese.

    Regards,

    David Z

562 is now offered for sale at DD Classics in London for around £260k. It is being shown at the Classic car show. Its yellow (but looks like a recent respray), switched back to LHD with possible non original wire wheels. Interior is original.
