Sold my 308 and bought this '05 Gransport this past Saturday. Will miss the 308 of course, but I'm looking forward to new adventures with this...

Car is in great shape with just over 29k on it. Only issue I've run into is that it's hill holding feature is not functioning at all. If anyone has experience with these and has any ideas, they would be much appreciated. Previous owner lived in a pretty flat area and didn't even know it was supposed to have it!

Beautiful car, looks great in black with those wheels and red calipers. Can't help with the hill holding feature. I had a 2002 coupe cambiocorsa and don't remember any feature like that. Good luck and have fun with it!

Have same car as DD and didn't know about HH feature either. Except, it will tend to hold on a slope. I just assumed that was normal F1 operation, no?

They do have a hill holding feature, or at least the later ones do, maybe '04 onward. It will hold the car in place about a second or so while you engage the throttle.

Thanks! I love the calipers but thinking I might go black or grey with the wheels. Not sure though.

I don't think the '02 had the hh feature, came in later on.

Congratulations on your new car! They are a whole lot of car for the money. I'm sure you'll have a LOT of fun with her.

From page 106 of the GranSport owners manual:

    Hill Holder Strategy
The Hill Holder system helps the driver when starting-off on an uphill slope. It intervenes only following a vehicle stop when the brake pedal is released, keeping the car stopped for a moment, so as to allow the driver to move from the brake to the accelerator pedal. The system is capable of varying its intervention time depending on the road slope. This time ranges from a minimum (0.06 seconds) on downhill stretches and a maximum (1.2 seconds) on uphill stretches, so that the driver will not perceive the vehicle as "braked" downhill.

The function that calculates the road gradient is only active at speeds of over 8 km/h, therefore gradient changes at lower speeds will not be detected. Example: if you are driving uphill and you make a reversing manoeuvre, the system will not detect a gradient change, and its maximum intervention time will remain 1.2 seconds.

Sounds like a great way to burn out the clutch that much sooner?

OK, so there is nothing you have to do, it just does it for you. I understand, the car does about 2,000 things on its own like that I don't have to activate. :)

The opposite, I think. The brake holds the car so the clutch doesn't need to counteract rolling backward in addition to getting the car moving forward.

    Hi Chris,

this is what the owners manual says.

Personally I think it's a nice idea but hard to handle.
    I own a 06 Vanquish S and I now the GranSport gearbox.
Avoid slow traffic, especially uphill. Always put it in neutral if stopping and wait for a gap to go on.

Btw, congrats! The GS is the last beautiful coupe Maserati built!

    Cheers

Your car looks great, but DON'T paint the rims, they offset the car so nicely as it is, you won't see any definition if you paint them gray or black. Congrats!! I love the Gransports!

Thanks for all the kind words, it was tough to leave the 308 behind, but this car is a lot of fun!

Thanks, good point, I'll take it under advisement... I've got a friend with a nearly identical car but with the grey wheels, I'll compare them when we get together next and see what I think. Probably won't do it for a while either way.

Chris, IMHO the grey (stock) wheels look great on a black one, especially with red calipers.
Grey rims give the car a more sportier look (if necessary). ;-)

That's what I'm thinking, the black can obscure the details but the grey is a nice look and sportier.

Congratulations, great looking Gransport. I have driven about 3 different examples, including a MC Victory and don't recall any of them holding on a hill.
