    should I be able to lock the brakes on a sudden stop?

    Not on my car. No chance at all. It's like stopping a charging rhino.

    Maybe you have some upgraded disks, pads and booster system?

    I have what I consider poor braking. I will allow now that I understand. any one tried to improve this?

    Yes. There no ABS and the brakes are powerful. It depends on the speed though...
