You opinion, pics... pls !!! Thx. Here's what I found on the chassis : Image Unavailable, Please Login
It looks correct. What is the EXACT measurement of the height of the #1 and the width of the zero. In decimals e.g. . .0385 .0425 etc. 1959 3500 GT. Front drum brakes? How about a photo of the car?
So we have a 1960 with a steel body, modified rear frame, and fuel tank trunk area, disc wheels, standard roof line, and signals from a later Fiat/Lancia? I know Walter Baeumer knows about this car, but he doesn't feel like posting here anymore. More photos would be helpful, maybe it would bring Walter back! Cool car, what is the story?
The car seems to have been badly crashed, both front and back. The tubular frames are torn (not even cut) at these places, and the car is 1 meter shortest at the back ! For repairing, they molded a new face, and attache a Fiat 124 Coupé back. The car seems to have originally been black w/ red leather, and is now blue w/ black vynil (absolutely not leather, I've gone to see the car last Tuesday). Yes, the car is from 1960, and was first registered in Milan. And has always been in Italy.
No radiator, water pipes, airbox... Wrong cams that come froman injected version. Quite all the interiror is missing, the steering wheel is broken. No rear screen, bumpers, wheel chrome trims... An d abad story about the chassis number plate that is used on another driveable 3500GT.
Admire the bodywork on the rear main tube... On the right side, the tube is shortest and completely torn.
I've gone to buy that car, and, generally consider all can be restored. It's for me only a question of time, Passion, and skills. But the car was definitely not the one described. And at this price, I pass.
No, THx. I guess the car's too expensive regard to the condition. HOwever, it's also sold w/ a front end to adjust, and un incomplete rear end.
There's something which doesn't fit. How did they attached the front and the back to the middle aluminium body? I mean: the story of the crash is your opinion or have you been told about that? Francesco
FRancesco, I did see the car. WHen you see the condition, and the way the front and rear frames have been torn, there's no other explanation. That could also explain why the front and rear parts have been changed, and the rear one shortened in the meantime (pls see again with attention the pics of the trunk environment).
To answer your question, here's a part of the answer. I remind you that the rear part has been shortened of at least 1 meter. (the reason why the spare wheel cannot fit with a tyre anymire...). Image Unavailable, Please Login
On the front end, they have strenghtened a little bit the clip by widening and "curving" the wheel arches. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The front anti-roll bar has been torn and so, is missing. The car had no more carbs. The current owner (for 27 years) found a similar set but not exactly of the same reference.
