    How bad is it?
    Like a Ferrari?
    timing belts?
    annual services?
    "big service" every 3-5 years?

I'm thinking 2009 or newer, out of warranty.

I have a 2009 Gran Turismo 4.7S that my wife uses as a daily driver. We have owned it for about a year now.

Maintenance is not bad BUT I do most of the maintenance myself. If you go to the dealer, it can end up being very expensive. Here is an example. The brakes (at 42K miles) will need to be replaced. Online prices for just the pads were above $600 up to $1,200.

If you look in the Maserati section, you will see my post were somebody was nice enough to give me a source that will cost about $325. They are VERY easy to put in. I will change the oil myself and flush the brake fluid as well. I am not aware of any large item service items like timing belts etc and the transmission is an automatic (even though it has paddle shifters). I plan on treating this car just like any other car as we put miles on it and do our best to take care of it. Hope this helps.

in 2009 they made a F1 Cambiocorsa version, same transmission as the 599, and they made 399 of them. Awesome cars, but the transmission will require clutch replacements vs the normal hydraulic transmissions which shouldn't require service other than fluid replacement.

The engine is not a timing belt engine, so there isn't that major service perse, but if you are afraid of maintenance costs, or expect it to be as bullet proof as a mercedes/bmw you might be disappointed.

I have one (of the 399) and love it, any extra maintenance is more than worth the cost to me. Get a good PPI done obviously.

I have a couple of questions here. The way you state 42k that the brakes will need to be done, is that a set mileage that it should be done or you can just tell yours will be worn at that exact mileage? Was/is your service pad indicator light on?
