We are getting ready to line bore my inline six but first I need to know the original crankshaft main bearing line bore measurement in millimeters.
This would be for the bigger 75mm crankshaft.

    I have two conflicting measurements.

    79.835 or

    79.781
Any help or lead that results in an answer will be much appreciated.

Frank the engine you have should give you the information you need. Since you have five or six original bearing s measure these and see what they tell you. As you know with Maserati different engines could have different measurements.

Luca the owner of the Maserati machine shop in Modena came back to me with 79.83 mm +0 / +0.010.
The block I have measures 79.781.
So it looks like we will line bore it to the 79.83 spec.
    Wish me luck.

Be careful! How come your measurement is 0.05 below the bottom limit?
You should check with the bearing manufacturer who can give you the right figures.

Have to agree with that, good advice.
Do not bore before you have fitting bearings.

    Best,

    Jack.

Hi Frank,Luca was right, the correct size is 79,83mm.
If your main bearing line bore measurement is smaller than that,
    take care of your oilpump-gears!
Maybe someone grinded the mainbearing caps,...
    best regards,
    Bernhard
