I found a nice 13,500 miles, 2009 GT-S, for a very reasonable price. Did ALL of the 2009 Gran Turismo S come with the "F1 Ferrari 599" gearbox, which Maserati calls the Cambriocorsa? I'm confused as to weather ALL GTS had the "F1 599" gearbox as many people call it or not. Some owner reviews rave about them, others say stay away from them. What do the owners and experts say? I'm looking at a low milage 2008 GT and 2009 GT-S. for the same price. Many thanks!
No, only something like 300 F1 fitted Maserati GTS's were made, all of them in 2009 for the US market. Pretty rare animal. Has gets a price premium to the auto version (well, at least it used to, I have not checked in a long time). Every time I take mine to the dealership the mechanics always comment "that's the one to have!"
I think they started delivering the non-F1 (Automatic) version of the Gran Turismo S in 2009. For the US market only? I believe many Gran Turismo S delivered in Holland (a small country in Europe ) in 2008 and 2009 came with the F1 gearbox.
US market GranTurismos are all automatics except for the 299 GranTurismo S CambrioCorsas that were imported in 2009. We have a Black one with 12k on it that I ironically drove to function last night. First time I really got to spend some time in the car. This car drives completely completely different than any other GranTurismo I've driven. Very tight, very direct compared to the standard GT. Also found myself driving with the windows down, the sound is fantastic.
The center console has two round, angled buttons instead of a shift lever. There's a black one on cars.com at this writing.
This is mine - F1 - awesome car - completely different then the non F1s - consul looks like a Ferrari - no shift lever Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you to all for the insight and information. With all of the help from the members of the Maserati section and more research I've got the differences nailed down. Ciao and best!
I counted nine 2009 GTs with F1 available on cars.com. By calling it the "599 F1," is this the improved version over the previous cambiocorsa, which was highly problematic?
Monster improvement. The last year of the duoselect, the older F1 was 2007 when some fraction of QP's, a third I think, were F1 and the rest automatic. The 2009 is the 599 Superfast, absolutely night and day.
