I think it's about time this model is appreciated for the fine Maserati that it is. Those lucky enough to own or have owned one, know what I mean.

My Ghibli is a MY94 produced in November 1994. The Ghibli MY94 was the first Ghibli model that was equipped with ABS, seen here sporting the 17-inch Speedline "Ghibli Cup" wheels.

    More photos to follow.

Good to see a Shamal, another of the final Maseratis to be powered by engines built in Modena by Maserati engineers.

That one looks great in black especially from that angle.

A completely black car just makes my body hurt thinking about the amount of work involved keep it looking that good. Congrats.

Know anyone who'd like to swap a nice Shamal for a Ghibli Open Cup EVO with fresh paint and engine?

    Thanks for kind words.
The car is actually deep blue but it is hard to capture with my
iPhone camera. Usually looks black. Here's another one from today where blue
    may be easier to spot?
But where are the pics of Ghiblis, no-one?

    Hi,

I suspect that is because the Ghibli II was never officially exported to the U.S.

However, you can see plenty of pics on the "Maserati Ghibli II Register", which now contains 488 examples !!!

Just click on the red text !!!

Some belonging to proud owners and sadly some broken for parts.

Actual racing no. Just at local Ferrari club and a few other track events for several years.

    That's enough for me.

I wouldn't have raced such a car either, but then I'm just not a racer... Anyway, those Ghiblis IIs were very competitive in Italian GT racing in the 1990s, up against F355s and P911s.

late 2.8l GT incl. ABS & Airbag.
They were much better as people say today. Very understatement and very quick (and reliable, too if you treat them well)

Here is my old late (1999) RHD Ghibli II that I purchased nearly-new from Graypaul Maserati in 2000 and (much to my later regret) sold again a couple of years later. I adored that car. Also a couple of pics of a similar late RHD green car that I parked next to at the Italian Car day at Brooklands in 2000. I would love to buy another late RHD Ghibli II in good condition!

Yes but the title is a bit misleading as it's full of a bunch of the variants of the Biturbo line and not focused on the Ghibli II.

I like the original design as well as the last series Ghibli II and I DO get very nice compliments and thumbs up now from people who aren't full of the anti Maserati bias generated starting in the late 1970s and reaching a peak in the early 1990s.

When I had my yellow GOC out for track sessions with the Ferrari Club at Lime Rock, Pocono and Watkins Glen it generated lots of interest and some admiration. It was faster than 360's but not the challenge cars.

I think you're right. Those sparse comments sound like inexperienced internet jockeys who've probably never even driven a performance car much less owned one of these. I'd wager they're good on the simulators though! :D

Hi Enrico, yes I kept a record of it:

The chassis number was: ZAM336B0000400228 and the engine number was 401540.

    Hi Ed,

Thank you. I have it. It's so important to see how many of these Maseratis have survived.
