Located East of Essen, Paderborn is a small town with a very big Maserati community. Here are some photos of the cars and people I saw there in Sept. Here is a Sebring # 1755, bought at auction that looked good until the paint was removed by Johannes on the left, the loyal "Alfa 1900" guy who is slowly converting to a Maserati guy. The car was a complete rust bucket, but Johannes is bringing it back to life. Thats Maserati man Hans in the middle and Olaf AKA Ibird on the far right. Photo taken in Johannes workshop. Oh, thats one of Johannes Alfa 1900's. He has a couple of them. This one is a survivor in extremely original condition. More photos coming. More photos from the guys in Paderborn. A very early 3500 #070 - owned by Hans - sits on the lift in primer. Note the style of the grill is different than the later production cars. Next we see 2104 looking very rough and needing the expert touch of the Paderborn panel beater. Below is a perfect recreation of the 3500 Gas tank. This tank was amazing and truly the result of a artist. Three cheers for the Modena of the North Maser guys. A little correction ref. the photos of the 4 Maserati 3500 GT in a row and the orig. Ghibli Spyder. These were taken yesterday in Rico´s Workshop, aka "Modena east" as it is located in the eastern part of Germany. We´re more north. But we know each other very well and his work is perfect. Hans
Reply from Hans. The blue one with wire wheels is one of my (Hans) ex-cars. This is how the Maserati looked in 2012, when we picked it up in Valencia/Spain after 35 years hidden in a warehouse. Ciao, FGM Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Leaf Spring Question from our German Maser guys. I am sure Wolfgang would enjoy hearing from any of you who have had experience with these leaf springs. FGM Hi Frank, As you see on the pictures the work goes on very slowly. With the details we need longer than we needed with restorations before. Now I have a question. We found out that the leaf springs are not alltogehter original. We compared with my Mistral because I think the Mistral, Sebring and the 3500 GT have exactly the same leaf springs. The Mistral has 9 leafs, our 3500 has 8 leafs and the length is also a bit different. Do you know someone who produces the leaf springs of the 3500 GT and has the plans? If not I have to find out a specialist in Germany whome I have to give the leaf springs of the Mistral to dublicate these.
