My '63 3500 GTI (#2574) has a 7 gauges dashboard (see photo). All the gauges are branded Jaeger while the amperometer is branded Lucas . They seem belonging to the same series and type . Having seen the same on other cars, I think that all this is correct and original . Yesterday, a French friend collector, sitting in my car, said :" This Amps gauge doesn't seem original, because is not Jaeger branded as the other gauges ! " Even if I said that I'm pretty sure that all is genuine, our discussion went on for a while without results. Any thoughts ? Ciao Andrea Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Andrea, You need to change friends ...... as he is wrong. Even after Maserati switched to Smith gauges, the amp gauges were branded as Lucas. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hello Andrea, Could you possibly post me, or all of us an overall photo of your car? Your dash looks to be the exact color as mine, but my exterior paint is all but worn off from years of external storage. I would love to see what the car looks like in this color. Many Thanks, RF.
You can see a picture of the car clicking my public profile. The colour is Grigio Albany . The car has been repainted, but I let the dashboard as I found it, with his original paint and patina. The dashboard picture has been taken before the cleaning. Ciao Andrea
Thanks Ivan. I was just waiting for the opinion of an expert like you to be sure to be right. I always believed that my car was correct, but that guy made me doubt because he is restoring his 3500 and it seemed totally sure of what he was saying. Ciao Andrea
Same on the Tipo 107 Quattroporte! BTW: tipo107.com lists now 473 Quattroporte 107. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Perhaps the black background on the Lucas AMPS instrument was a subtle hint of things to come?? Cheers, Colin
