Can anyone help with obtaining PPG codes for the following colours please? All are for Maseratis from the 1960's Many Thanks in advance Julian Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes Graeme and given the codes to a local painter to get samples painted but no luck without PPG codes so far Julian
Hi Julian. On Ivan's site the official PPG code sheet says 'Flemington gray 106E6' Has the code 33203, but listed for years 1975-76. It is the only one of those colours listed......all very pretty BTW! Cheers. Mark.
Hi Mark, I would like choose a genuine Maserati Ghibli colour but I did love a really beautiful 3500 at an event a week or so ago. The colour was not original but I didn't care and neither did the owner! Problems, problems Julian Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for all the help. I now have 2 of the 4 mixes and hope to have the other 2 soon thanks to a contact I now have at PPG Julian
Hi Mark, One of the Ghibli owners is lucky enough to have a period colour sample swatch from Glidden and it includes the Grigio Flemington Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Newmarket looking good on this one up for sale https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/maserati/sebring/1964/365762
Hello, was looking for the correct Grigio Flemington as well for the Kyalami and got samples from PPG and Glasurit which apparently had the color in their database. The color i received was painted onto a test metal but didnt match the color from the Maserati color samples fan at all. Luckily a friend has 2 original Maserati sheets to compare. In the end a friend got a color sample from a workshop in Italy which provided the correct color. Now my paintshop is trying to find the right mixture to match the sample we got from italy. This is just to say that the colors from PPG and other manufactures are usually not correct and need to be compared to an original Maserati sample if possible. Am currently looking for a correct sample of the Grigio Milano for my Mexico as I dont know anyone who has an original Maserati sample.
Really super photos. It is so difficult to even get an impression of these old colours through a computer screen, and even more so to replicate the old lacquer paint in modern water based. All the pictures I have seen of Grigio Newmarket have been a bit slate blue for my taste, but that looks lovely. I have tried so hard to like my Ghibli's original Verde Gemma, but it really is not to my taste, so I think it will be done in either Grigio Newmarket and Volpe Argentata. As 'golden eagle' so eloquently put it, a Ghibli doesn't need to be dressed like Lady Gaga! I guess you are leaning the same way Julian? Cheers all. Mark.
Just like another 3500 I know of Mine #916 FGM Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is the modern paint code for Grigio Milano. I had my car repainted a couple of years ago. There was original color left on the inside of the trunk among other places and this formula is very similar. In some light there is almost some olive green in the color, very Beautiful. Thanks for the images, would you be able to post any more please? The colour looks so different in the 2 images so I'd love to see a few more if you are able to share them Many Thanks Julian
That 3500 looks like it is Grigio Silverstone, a Ferrari color. PPG 159650 for solvent based and 912517 for water based.
I know the Australian one is not an original colour and I think Franks car is the same. Both superb colours for the 3500 all the same. Please correct me if I'm wrong Julian
Ok, here are a couple of more Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Brilliant, many thanks, Did your painter use a PPG paint for this colour? It is one of 2 formulas we don't have of the 4 listed above at the top. I have the silver and New Market now but still asking for details for Grigio Flemington and Milano Julian
Looks very interesting and worth looking at! I now have Grigio Flemington so just waiting for the last one now, your Milano. PPG have been superb helping my painter track down the colour matches Julian Once I have all 4 formulas I will get samples painted on curved panels and post on here along with a bit of chrome so others ( Mark? ) can assess too!
So here is the only picture I have so far but I will collect the samples tomorrow! Fantastic !! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Julian Good luck with your color selection! I had a 67 coupe painted Grigio Flemington and really liked that color on the car. Ivan Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
