I have seen it mentioned in passing and it even got 4 seconds of screen time in the ITV BTCC documentary on Youtube. Does anyone have more information about these cars- particularly the engines? I read somewhere that early cars had triple carbs. Thanks all, happy holidays.

NO never that I've ever heard of. Unless they dropped the turbos completely and the interview with the development engineer posted on here somewhere indicated that the engine was a miserable performer normally aspirated which is one reason why they went the turbo route.

But thanks for asking about these as we got some interesting links and I see William Sala is mentioned. He did some post GOC series work on those cars for the Italian GT racing series in the late 1990's.

Did they ever get a win or even podium in any of the championships they were raced in?

Of course, just some years later the Ghibli II effort produced some excellent results, especially in the Italian GT Championship, but that is really a different story :) ....

Thanks everyone. I would love to know how the carburetor engines gave 360 horses especially if they were still using the little IHI turbos.

After doing my homework it seems like podiums were out of reach because of fundamental design issues (limited front suspension travel, not enough ride height to hop the curbs) in addition to normal development problems.
