It is with much sadness that I learned of the passing of Kyle Flemming on Sunday March 26. There are many on this website who new Kyle much better than I and can tell of his contributions and knowledge of Maserati's and other vintage cars. I had the pleasure of speaking with Kyle a few dozen times over the past 10 years and met him once. He was a soft spoken, kind man who would go out of his way to help with parts, literature, or just his general knowledge of Maserati's.
    He will be missed.

Sorry to hear the sad news about Kyle. I've known him since 1980 and he was a great source for parts, information and friendly advice. He touched many souls in the Maserati and Ferrari communities. Many of the exotic cars on the road today are a result of Kyle's influence.
He was a friend and a great guy.
    Rest in piece Kyle.

Kyle (the Ferrari junk man) was a great friend, always willing to share time and sources for parts and knowledge. When Ferrari's got too valuable to part out, he switched to Maserati's and was responsible for keeping many of the cars on the road when their values would not support the high prices some vendors wanted for parts. Over the years, I have often had good thoughts about Kyle and his lady. Another "dinosaur" leaves us.

Just had another memory about Kyle. If any of you are old enough to remember the TV ad in which a beautiful girl ice skates with a ball point ink pen attached to her skates, and they then remove the pen and it still writes, the pretty girl was Kyle's lady.

Count me among the people that knew Kyle and knew what a great contributor he was to the community. I too have known him since 1980 and He was always ready to share his vast knowledge of parts and share special tools for repair of the cars. Certainly I will miss him. In the past few years even though his health was failing he was always ready to talk about cars.
Rest in peace Kyle, many will miss you.

For many years Kyle was my primary source for parts and friendly advice. He knew Maseratis inside and out and was happy to share his knowledge.

One time he was on his way to Florida from his home in Virginia Beach and he took the time to personally deliver the parts I needed to convert a Ghibli from auto to 5-speed. While he was at it he also took the initiative of bringing a Ghibli quad exhaust since it was too long to ship and he thought it was a part I should get. I did get the exhaust and never regretted it.

    Kyle will be missed.

Wow, very sorry to hear. i got to know Kyle back in 1988 just after I purchased a 1980 Maserati series III 4Porte. He was a wealth of knowledge and helped my obtain numerous parts for it that were listed as NLA. He, Frank Baker (AW Imported Auto Parts), who has also passed away and I kept in contact for years with all things vintage "Maserati". I knew his health wasn't the best and am very sad to hear of his passing.

    RIP Kyle.

I bought my European bumpers for my Bora from him so long ago I rather not remember.

This kind of reminds me of Bob Grossman's passing. Both legends in the Maserati world here in the USA.

Very sorry to hear of his passing.

I spoke to Kyle only a few times on the phone, but recall one instance in particular. I was in Modena, spring 2006, and someone in Fort Lauderdale when moving my Khamsin for me, had broken a driver's window glass.

The usual suspects did not have any so I called Kyle, got the lady with the beautiful voice on the phone and then him.

I asked him if he had such a window and his answer made me fall off my chair because by accident he elucidated a mystery I had tried to solve for years:

"Marc the only Khamsin glass I ever had was that of the guy who cut a Khamsin into a spyder but I sold it all long ago."

When I had recovered a few seconds later I asked who that was and finally I had my answer, Gary Forbis who owned a workshop in Michigan which stretched sedans into limousines.

He was most pleasant and I am sorry I never got to meet him, such people really do make a difference in preserving these cars and keeping them on the road.

    RIP

Kyle and I did business deals for parts from Europe but believe it or not, we never actually met in person. I was in Chicago and he was in Virginai Beach but a nicer man never lived and he was a great person to work with when I bought parts for him from Europe. He gave of himslef to anyone who needed his help or knowledge or adsvise. The Maserati community will not be the same with him gone

I've had contact with him since about 1981 when I purchased my first Q-Porte in SE Virginia. He was always available and when ever I called he was there with the answers I needed. Though I have my four Q-Portes and three parts car I will forever miss the great advice he freely gave to all who asked.
He is one who deserved the staircase to heaven in order to be with us a bit longer.
I am sure we will all have a great reunion one day.

I found a handwritten note from Kyle recently as I was cleaning up. I haven't talked to him in MANY years....but thought about calling him to see how he was doing...and talk Maseratis....That was last week.... I tried calling last Saturday, but I had an old area code... I was about to see if anyone on the list had a current number. Now he is in God's company....

    There are no coincidences...

    Rest in Peace.....

Great Guy. He was one of those guys you could do business with on a hand shake or in most cases a word over the phone.
I spoke with him often beginning in 1976, and always enjoyed our common interest.
His enthusiasm for the cars and people was very pronounced.
I recall our conversations always went on for what seemed like a long time, but every word was filling in the blanks with the his vast accumulation of personal scuttlebutt and observations.

As colleagues in the parts business, I always felt like the neighbor lady talking to the neighbor over the back yard fence, if you know what I mean. :)
My last purchase from him was a set of 9 bolt rear brake drums for converting 101.916 to wire wheels.
He sent them with a note to send a check, which I promptly did.
My condolences to Pat, his lovely wife.

RIP Buddy, see you again on the other side.

Before there the internet and eBay there was Kyle. He was my first point of contact after I acquired my 3500GT and a selfless, caring and helpful individual. After I moved from Virginia to Maryland I gave up my 3500GT personalized license plates and I let Kyle know this plate is now available. He later informed me Pat's VW Golf was wearing these tags! This was before cellphones had cameras otherwise, I'm sure he would have sent me the photo. Thank you, Father Fleming, for who you are and what you have done to preserve the Maserati marque.

Kyle has helped me with my Ghibli ever since I was "young". He was a great person and humanitarian. He knew his parts and was a wealth of knowledge. I met and visited him about 6 years ago. The wind still blows!

Iska -- the wind that passes leaving no trace. It is a symbol of the soul of man as it passes through this life and beyond........
