wow, brings back great memories of doing new paint and an engine&trans rebuild on a '79 X-1/9 back in the late 80s in my Dad's garage.

    Very nice job!

    WOW!

Between you and Joe it's almost dangerous to read these threads...the inspiration makes me want to go out and buy a pile of **** and have someone work on it for me... :)

    Well done!

(Seriously, I have been searching hard and heavy for a Karmann Ghia...went to look at one this morning as a matter of fact)

Beautiful Paul. Even if I had the $$ and the know-how, how you you find the TIME? I have to choose on weekends between a car show and chores, let alone restoring a car. Kudos to you, and bring her over to C&C.

Fiat X/19, smaller 308, mid engine, transverse engine, likes to rev, and Italian. How do you find the time? Now that I'm retired, I have less time.

Developed as Fiat x1/20. Fiat twincam. Some shared X1/9 parts. No Stratos but I get to codrive a Martini Delta WRC car.

I have a spare set of alloys that are a nice mod for X1/9s. Will post a pic of them on a X1/9 later from home PC and let me know if you like.

Thanks for the pics. Love the color and paint on that X1/9!!!! Those wheels are almost as strange as the one's on my car. Your replacements are a huge improvement. Bertone was in their weird design stage. Sort of like the Maserati Khamsin. I'm going to stick with the ones I have (apparently jokingly called "Tron") since I'll be selling the car in a month or so.

Paul -- you'll have to bring her down to C&C sometime before you sell her, would love to take a look in person, looks like you did a great job from the pics!

    Cheers!

First I have to get inspected and transfer the title. Wasn't gonna waste the time and money on that stuff if it turned out to be unsalvagable. When I bought it I was told that the "engine ran a year ago", so it was a bit of a pig in a poke.

Grazie! She is fun to drive. More pep than one would expect from 1500 cc displacement, and impeccable steering feel ( but you have that on your Elise ). Unfortunately not enough garage space, so she'll have to leave after I enjoy her for a few weeks.

Paul -- there's an easy solution for that: build a new garage! I think I smell your next project! :)

In all seriousness, she looked great! Congrats!
